NY and others, I should have done this first. Can't believe how easy it is to code NT7 indicators. This version M3_Channels.zip has the default colors for upChannel and dnChannel selectable in the parameters box of the indicator properties. This way you can choose your default up Channel color and default down channel color. The other features should be the same as M1_Channels.zip. Any problems, let me know. All the best, moose
Hi bigmoose, Thank you for the M3_Channels which has options of choosing preferred colors for up or down channels. No matter M1, M2 or M3 version of the indicator, point 3 was always automatically placed at the end of Right Trend Line based on my observation of the past severals days. I did follow the instructions by using Ctrl+w to toggle 1, 2 and 3 numbers for channel.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll play with it in the next few days and see if I messed up part of the code that placed the 3. Did the placement of the 3 work OK in the PV_Channels_v03 build for you? That would be the build before I started "dithering: Edit: Update: NY I dithered mine and here is the characteristic I found with M3_Channels.zip. Insert: Click on point 1 > The channel tool identifies point 1 and remembers it. It then asks you to define point 3 When you click on point 3 it identifies 1,2, 3 and remembers 1,2,3 so that when you extend the channel, point 3 will stay where it was. If you define point 3 beyond the real point 3 it will not calculate a better point 3. I think the software is behaving as I expected. Comments welcome, of course.
Hi bigmoose, M3 works very well on selecting the colors I need for channel trendline.Thank you for your hard works.
Hi bigmoose, thank you for your efforts! As it is difficult to draw parallel lines with Ninjatrader (7) in the default "bar-snap-mode" (and the others don't even work correctly) this is a great help. Regarding the point 3 placement... I tried it but point 3 seems to move to the end of the RTL when you move/adjust the RTL. But maybe I did it wrong. I select pt 1, then pt3, then I press ctrl-w and see pt 1, 2 and 3. If after this procedure I move the RTL then pt3 also moves. And regarding the indicator name... I thought that the name would change from m1_channel to m3_channel or show something like m1_channel_v3 after import but it stayed the same. Therefore I was not sure if I imported the correct version and if the moving pt 3. is related to that. But that's some minor details. Thanks again.
You gents are more than welcome. Now I tried it again with my configuration doing what you described ff. Now if I select the channel and extend it by "extending the green/red dot" my point 3 remains where it was defined. Now if you click on the old point 3 and redefine it on another bar/candle that "redefines" the point 3 and it moves. At least that is how it works on my two computers using the M3 load. Apologies for the lapse of "configuration control" NT7 makes it easy to rename the .zip "capsule" that contains the indicators. It is a bit of a pain to copy and rename the indicator itself... but I will start doing that to remove the ambiguities. That is part of my "learning the proper" way to do NT7 capsules and files. Thanks for bearing with me. BTW reviewing PePe's original code, he was quite a genius. Looks like he quit posting two years or so ago and disappeared into the vapor. Anyone know where he went and why? He did some great work!
I put back the color selection code. NOTE: some versions of NT7 channel indicators have the same problem of not drawing when open, try delete then add it back on. Maybe some more skill Ninja coder can take a look at it.
