One really good one is called stator. You should be able to get a demo download from stator-afm.com damo
I think I have you all beat. I had to write a program to extract trade info from my platform's log file, pair up opening and closing trades, write this info to separate file. My broker's trading software has no (real) P&L interface, and can't export trade log to excel or even text file.
Stator is great. i use it (and I am not affiliated with the company). The guy who runs it offers the BEST service. You can download a demo here: http://www.stator-afm.com/ It gives you details on just about everything with your trading account. You can export to excel but I do not know why, because stator does everything! It is specialised software for trading, unlike others (i.g. Money, Excel). Regards damo
Thank you. 2 questions: how complicated is it to download your trade data from e.g IB.. ideally, it would do that automatically? Does it offer Fixed Ration Position sizing? Couldn't see that at the website? Best
What is it exactly that you are wanting to track day to day? Do you have specific metrics/stats (other than cumulative P/L on the day) the you'd like to be able to track on a day-to-day basis and if so,what are they? In a perfect world, what would your order-entry platform/broker have the ability to track and present to you about your trading, and what are you using Excel to calculate? Many of the performance-reporting/tracking features offered by order-entry softwares are relatively bare-bones and/or insufficient for someone wanting to drill down in more detail. I believe this is what the original poster is referencing. It's great that you've taken the initiative to build in Excel what suits you. What are some of the things you have written the function to calculate? In most cases it's quite simple. IB is not unlike many other providers in that they give you the option of creating an Excel file with data about your trading (ie fill price, timestamp, product, etc.) or displaying the file on the screen, which can then be copied/pasted into Excel. From there, the Excel file can then be used to plug into a custom-made Excel solution such as that created by mad_badger or into a third-party provider that specializes in providing detailed analysis and presentation of such data (ie Stator or TraderDNA). I've attached a screenshot of the feature in IB that exports your trade data to Excel or displays it on the screen so it can be copied/pasted into Excel.
