Software to allow remote desktop on a PC using a PDA as the internet connection

  1. I have a Windows Mobile 5.0 PDA (Verizon XV6700 a.k.a. Audiovox 6700) which through Verizon has full internet connectivity over their EVDO data network. I have unlimited data, but the screen is of course very small so when I do remote desktop even though the connection speed is super fast, it's a royal pain to use. Is anyone aware of any software that would let me connect using my desktop PC (at work) but connect using the internet connection of the PDA (connected via the USB ActiveSync connection -- it gets an internal IP address but seems to disconnect from the EVDO network when I connect it to the desktop PC).

    Thanks in advance....SSB

  2. FYI I did some google searches today and found out how to do it.

You need to run a program from the PDA called WModem.exe (it wasn't on my start menu -- I had to use the file explorer to find it in the windows folder). Then after you connect it to the USB cradle it will "discover" the new hardware, then you need to tell it where to get the driver (it's on the ActiveSync install CD under the OEM folder).

If you google Wmodem.exe and USB modem you should find it.
