Software platform for Bright

Discussion in 'Prop Firms' started by Jonnytrade344, Jul 28, 2002.

  1. is REDI really free or built into the prop firms clearing deals ?

does REDI really not have a smart order routing feature ? why would you not want it to automatically go to the best price ? Why would you lock yourself into the REDI ECN if there could be a better price available ?

  2. Don't get me wrong here guys.....I totally agree that trading styles differ (avalanche), and that some people get used to certain features.

Our traders are focused primarily on simple, reliable tactics that concentrate on the bottom line (not that everyone is not trying to make money)....rather than a certain style. We "focus" on "adaptability" in the markets, and our training focuses on whatever is working at the present time. We've found that many find it so much easier to not focus on software (not making excuses or anything, just telling you what I see), and focus on new ways to make money.

I admit (yes, I do), that some platforms may be better for Nasdaq scalping...but our better traders just don't do that...and if they did, we may explore other platforms.

BTW, the "platforms" are provided by the bigger clearing firms.

  3. I'm sorry, but your comments make no sense....Redi offers free interactive training to those who need help....and with direct SIAC quotes, they are quicker than my First Alert or Track...

We trade tens of millions of shares every day with redi, and Buy means Buy...Sell means Sell....come on, good honest criticism is fine and I am happy to get changes accomplished....but no silly sour grapes....

Heck we just brought on new people who demanded Redi at another major firm, and had it, but it was taken away from them so they came to us...a lot is personal choice....

  4. Hmmm? I'll ask our guy about that as well, there may be a setting change needed.....I'll get back to you.

  5. Realized versus un-realized P&L

    REDI should have that feature.

Also, while we're making our wish list,

Could REDI get a 'mulligan" button? One time a day I want a do over.
How about an "oh Sh*t" button that automatically sells what you bought or buys what you sold?

  6. I asked redi+ help desk or whatever number I had to breakout the realized vs. unrealized profits and losses when I used the program. They said it would be available on the next update. (long time ago) They still haven't done that?

My god....that would take a good programer....what 30 minutes? an hour to build in? Guess the programers are too busy surfing the net for porn or something to spend a few minutes and actually make some enhancements every once and a year.

I don't mean to sound overly sarcastic....but sheesh, to not break out realized and unrealized gains and losses. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I like to know that kind of stuff.

  7. GHansen

    GHansen

Just today? What the heck took Bright so long? No offense but did the criticism on these boards finally have an effect on your "software doesn't matter" attitude?

Try not to mock me Don. There are countless features REDI doesn't have that I KNOW make (save) people money. I'll give you one example because you plan on implementing it anyways. The dozens of other features I'd rather not share with you because it won't help me in any way to do so. REDI+ hotkeys cannot specify a variable price offset. You are limitted to say .01 or .05 over the ask price for example. What if I want to buy .02 or .10 over the ask price? That is just ONE example.

  9. Now the Mulligan is a good idea....I want one too!!

    Don

PS, besides SLK having "realized and unrealized" the REdi position P&L is a combination of both, and has the average price window in the Message monitor as well....that works well.

  10. Some systems have a realized v unrealized P&L real time intraday. Not having to wait for my sheets in the morn. REDI combines the two intraday.
