Software for quoting equities

Discussion in 'Automated Trading' started by badmrfrosty, Oct 7, 2009.

  1. I have looked but can't seem to find anything on this board or anywhere else.

Is there no third party software that allows you to quickly quote equities based on some theoretical value you give it?

Obviously this isn't going to be as fast as custom in house software. But is there really nothing that can do this off the shelf?

    Thanks for any help.

  2. Just when I thought I could never read anything that could surprise me on this site.

  3. The more I think about it the more in awe I am. This is actually the greatest post in ET history.

I can just imagine you inputting "theoretical prices"

Hmmmm.... I think the dow should be at 16,000. Oil should be at about $30 a barrel. I think Goldman Sachs is a little high I would price that at around $150.

There, now those are some good looking charts!!! LMFAO

  4. What exactly do you have in mind?

Maybe if you're a bit more specific, someone could point you in the right direction?

What sort of "formulas" would you be working with and what applications/platform do you presently use?

  5. Obviously it wasn't as straightforward as I thought. Here goes.

Say I have 2 stocks: Stock A and Stock B. I have an theory that given Stock A's price(or some basket of inputs, momentum, my position, current tempature in maine, etc) and my custom formula that I can calculate a theoretical price for Stock B.

Given this theo price then I want to quote Stock B Xc wide.

All I'm looking for is software that can take in data and then quote a bid and ask for a stock.

Obviously it isn't going to update on microsec levels but I don't want to be making a market on info 5sec old.
