    I'm not @Zzzz1 but I'll give my 2<currency> worth anyway ...

Hiring a programmer is great especially if (a) you can't program (or are a newbie-programmer), if they are experienced, they'll churn out better code in less time (b) You can find a good programmer (not all programmers are created equal).

But.... programmers only do what they're told. You need to have an idea of how to write up a decent spec. You need to know what you're looking for in terms of QA (evaluating the quality of their code). And of course, you need to have something worth programming (a programmer is only there to convert specs into code)... if you've got a lousy strategy then there's not much point hiring someone to code it up, it won't make a lousy strategy any better.

  2. awesome,,, thats what i thought,,, as far as the strategy i have a solid one and its profitable most of the time,,, also in the times its not profitable its losses are minimized, which is my main concern considering ive been traidng 10 years and only made money last 2,,, my question to u where do i find a coder that knows trading,, do u suggest i post a thread here on this site???

Tradinblox website told me i can hire coders for 190 an hour which is acceptable to me but i got to have their software which starts at 1500 which is not okay to me,,,,

i know precisely what i want from the coder and what he needs to code in the sense of i have an infinite amount of stuff i want to backtest and most if it is a single variable thus i would assume it wouldnt be too difficult to backtest

Yes, I would avoid any software that uses a proprietary coding language. Look for software that uses a standard coding language such as C#, Python, Java etc. etc. Proprietary coding languages used in trading software are generally pretty dumb and don't have anywhere near the functionality of the more widely used languages.

you can always hire someone to set up your backtesting architecture and teach you how to use it. But in the end any strategy ideas and strategy code you make others write means you essentially give away your IP free of charge. It is a decision you have to make yourself.

  5. to make sure i understand,, is c#, python, java all standard??? what i mean is i never heard of these terms but that probably cuz i never looked for software to do it and cuz i spent most my trading discretionary which i never made money,,, so now that iam systematic,,, i should be looking for a programming language with he above languages,, am i at the right path vocabulary wise??? thank u for ur patience

  6. if i thought that my strategy is overly simplistic and easy to understand,, yet the insturments and variables to be back tested are infinite in the sense that even if someone knew it it would affect me,, whats ur thoughts???

let me mention a separate thing,,, i still dont understand or believe just yet how it would affect a strategy if more than one person knew it,,, whats ur thoughts?? i understand on an empirical whole level how it would change it and make it not work,, but still dont on an individual level,,, for example i understand how if the whole world knew how to trade breakout of resistance lets say then eventually that strategy wouldnt work,,, but lets say i come to u and i say look at this strategy thats working,,, would it really affect it if a small group knew it being that the markets are soo deeep and liquid these days????

I don't think you need to worry at your stage about IP theft. Go ahead and hire a developer as long as you can clearly outline and spec out your needs. Good luck!!!
