Sure they are left (so are Democrats), but the country is hardly like Sweden or Norway.

The Ukraine and Germany do not have nukes. Neither do Sweden, Norway, Finland, Holland, etc. France does, but nukes are a last resort and of no practical use in a conventional war.

None of these socialist countries contribute significantly to the security of the world. They can't even defend themselves.

  3. I am surprised you are not blaming Cuba's dire economic conditions on Israel (based on many of your previous moronic posts).

Cuba is free to trade with almost any country on earth. I believe Canada is their largest trading partner. The USA even sells Cuba food and medicine.

I have visited Cuba. Their standard of living is very low.

  4. I visited Cuba, a joke, people living in abject poverty, waiter makes more than physician because he's paid in US $.

Been to France, Spain, Germany, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, pretty much all over Europe. Socialism working just fine in those countries. but it's not a good system for us

  5. Gord,
    they are social democracies...

The countries I listed can certainly hold their own.
Sure, the US spends more on military expenses that the next 23 countries on the list together -- but the US does not have super-soldiers. Just take part of a NATO exercise and you will quickly see what I mean.

For any of you from the US visiting Cuba - you are breaking US law and are criminals - unless you have special permissions to go there.

Cuba's largest "western" trading partners are Canada and the EU (especially Spain). Mexico has a special trade relationship as well - but I think the two presidents had a fall out some years ago. Don't know how it is now.

Please... you are delusional. They can't hold their own against anybody. And they contribute virtually nothing to security in the world. They are all subsidized by the American taxpayer. If they had hold up their end, all their fabulous government cradle to grave programs would have to be abandoned.

Sorry I deflated your quaint little socialism-is-better myth. But keep your hope up - since Euroweenie socialist countries can't keep up with America, maybe Obama will get elected and drag America down to your level... [IMG]

  9. Now tell us about Freedom. You know, freedom to travel where you want, to buy a Cuban cigar...

And by the way, many US citizens who have been to Cuba just don't admit it.

If you aren't free, it isn't freedom.

  10. Gord,
This is the FIRST time I've seen you score a valid point.
Defense spending in Europe/ Canada/ Japan is meaningless, they rely on the US for security.
NATO is an empty shell without the US,
Russia would probably have beaten the crap out of Western Europe if it weren't for the US acting as benevolent protective fatherly figure.

Europe should kiss our ass. and be thankful
