do you dispute that over the last 200 years there is a single country in the world that has increase its living standards(in whatever way you want to measure) more than the US?guess what it wasn't high tax rates as a % of gdp that caused that. according to obama supporter buffett it was the US constitution/rule of law, market economy, a meritocracy

As I'm getting ready to turn to my closing trades of the day, I have to hand it to you BigDave: you have a word for everyone and can surely roll with the punches! Of course you are wrong 99% of the time. But, thanks for a good discussion. :)

  3. Over the last 200? Yeah, England. Remember, for the first 100 we were agrarian.

I'm much more concerned about the next 30 years rather than a few hundred, and I can see the trend. Always follow the trend.

    1) What relevance do studies have when friends and family have waited MONTHS to get treatment needed in days.

    2) States where socialized healthcare is mandated for the uninsured are nearly bankrupt from the fiscal strain imposed by illegal immigrants

    California is a big one.

    3) A bigot? lol

When you've grown up in Canadas largest Indian Community, had Indian friends that admit to same, and can distinguish between "vinderjeet" and "smith" in the newspaper, its pretty obvious what the facts are.

You might also be interested to know that Cops have gone off-record in Canadas "USA Today" and said the vast majority of Gun Violence is committed by young males of "Jamican" descent.

    Who would have thought, eh?

    4) Good for you.

    5) Cheaper healthcare in Canada?!?? Don't think so.

First, your study likely assumed a 40% discount in the exchange.

Second, Canada allows the manufacture and import of generic drugs while not so in the US.

Americans literally shoulder the worlds Pharma R&D cost while most every other country allows the import of cheaper generics.

Its unfortunate, but if we Canadians went 100% patent drugs, we'd pay a shitload too!

Top income earners in Canada pay upwards of 55% in Tax. We have no national defense budget to speak of. Most revenue is consumed by the Health Care blackhole. So you're telling me we've got it cheaper up here.

    Doubt it.

typical liberal inability to reason to push an agenda. you claim correctly that the US started way behind and England won. Yet the US GDP is more than 6 times higher today(meanwhile China had a much bigger population and didnt got even close to the US). It ranks higher on a HDI, GDP per capita, never mind on an average HDI for the last 200 years.

But of course you measure standards of living on how much of the top 1% is taken to be given to whatever government plan will get you the applause of an audience

Ask yourself 'what creates wealth', dont be surprised if the liberals hacks who claim to have the answers are just morons slaved by praise and applause

Political seasons teach us one thing Trust No One. Read this about who got fucked for fucking around. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_South_Ossetia_war.

Is this the truth? Who knows? You can't even believe what is in a cereal box let alone make any valid statements about world affairs? Winners write the history books and we are left to repeat the lessons history tries to teach us.

  8. Well, that used to be true - but now there is something called the Internet, maybe you've heard of it? Although 79% of the world population does not have direct access to the Internet, there is still a large diversity of participants - and not just the "dominating winners" who rule all after a battle is won. Of course some totalitarian, authoritarian people like dictators and neo-conservatives try to undermine this freedom - but they can't stop it now that it is free and too powerful to be manipulated effectively.

  9. I see some idealogues arguing for socialism and some people with direct observations arguing against it.. duh, who do you think is using their brain really.....

What I'm seeing here is that socialism /communism [I don't draw much distinction between the two really] works if you are rich in a natural resource like oil [Norway] and have little military costs, except for Venezuela for some reason, maybe their economy shows that they are really spending a lot more on their military than we think, who knows. Wow, that sounds like the plan for the world than.. all the countries have to find oil and kill off their military spending entirely....

And people defending Cuba because the healthcare is so great? Ok, maybe they don't have the FDA blocking cancer cures that work fine, I believe that part, but I used to listen to Radio Havana back in the 70's and 80's. They were sending people out to the countryside to get food from the wild, to get grubs from under the rocks!! I'm not making this up. If socialism worked they would never have sunk that low just because of an embargo, it was because people like me won't work to feed the guy down the block, especially if I can't choose a profession that I'm suited for. I knew a guy that ran a church food giveaway program for decades. He said that fully 9 of 10 that came to him for food did that as a way of life. That's what happens in socialism, people become freebie hounds and have no incentive to work. Look at the US liberal shitholes known as the "inner cities", incentive to work? I'm not seeing it for some reason.. incentive to take welfare and subsidize it with some criminal activities.. yeah I'm seeing that all day every day...

"There is no such thing as a good tax."

"We contend that for a nation to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle. "

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."

"Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look on it as a cow they can milk. Not enough people see it as a healthy horse, pulling a sturdy wagon."

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. "
