  2. I hope they have 40 million beds in that hospital.

  3. The working poor often can't afford all of the above, and after expenses can't afford insurance.

:) Ever heard of Medicare? Medicaid? Tri-Care? VA? Etc. etc. etc.?

And yes, most Americans want a universal system to replace the mess that is in place right now: "In an extensive ABCNEWS/Washington Post poll, Americans by a 2-1 margin, 62-32 percent, prefer a universal health insurance program over the current employer-based system."

  4. Why? There's free hospitals like Cook County all over the country.

“The doctors of the staff give their services without charge in order that no citizens of the county shall be deprived of health or life for lack of such care and services.” -- Inscription above the entrance to L.A. County-USC Medical Center.

The Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center in East Los Angeles is one of the nation’s largest public hospitals and the nation's largest medical training center. In one year, the hospital will treat close to 800,000 patients, deliver 10,000 babies, treat 250,000 people in its emergency room, treat about half of all AIDS and Sickle Cell patients in Southern California, and handle 5,000 outpatient visitors per day. It provides more than 28 percent of the County's trauma care. Many of its patients are severely injured and almost half of them are poor and uninsured.

If the Federal Government wanted to provide healthcare to the poor all they'd need to do is grant additional funds to public county hospitals. Why do that when you can bitch and whine about "we want equal access to the same doctors rich folks use...." As if F. Lee Bailey will be your court appointed lawyer.

  5. You do bring up a good point, though, which is rather than spend $1 on preventative care for the working poor, we force them to wait until they get really bad and use an emergency room -- the most expensive type of care -- thus raising the costs.

How do you know? Maybe they could but are waiting to get it from free from the funny guy with the big ears.

Why isn't Obama promising "Universal Food?" How about "Universal Housing?" etc etc. Aren't these needs more basic than health care?

But, he wants to. He sees America of the future as a giant supermarket for clothing, entertainment, medicine, housing, food, education, tools, toys, cars, etc etc, all provided free for the asking... on top of 60 vacation days per year for 99% of the population, who, by then, will be called the "real working poor."

Now, he's just looking for the 1% suckers who will work 120 hours per week, use their creativity, persistence and risk tolerance every day to achieve their goals, in order to rob them (excuse me, the correct word is 'redistribute' their wealth) to pay for this giant Obama amusement park, right? Here's another funny statistic for you: over 80% of highschool graduates in France want to be civil servants. Why is that? Because they'd rather be in the 99% than the 1%. Makes sense mon ami.

It's Communism all over again, but with Rev Wright, Bill Ayers, Tony Rezco and Louis Farrakhan at the helm this time, I tell you. :(

Look at the Human Development Index, the country at the top of list is Iceland, they are just about to have -10%GDP.
in 1991 it was Japan, in 1980 is was Switzerland. over a long-period of time no country has ever beaten the United States. There are plenty of countries that are simply 'running hot' for a number of factors(commodities, pilling on foreign debt)
Plus HDI measures have big flaws on them. If a country achieves a higher life expectancy through slavery that would count as a 'good' thing by these measures

  8. I know because it has been studied to death.

There is a subsidy to provide "universal food" -- it's called "food stamps." "Universal housing" is called "welfare" or "unemployment insurance."

Are you sure you're not exaggerating just a tiny bit?

You know, SS, UI, welfare, food stamps -- already exist. The Republicans haven't canceled them yet so you don't need to expect any change under Obama.

Sure buddy. I suppose you think McCain will invite Liddy and Lindner to be joint VP's in charge of terrorism.

  10. So, in short, nobody beats the US at measures that you are already anticipatorily saying are invalid.

    Okeee.
