Given that I'm 45, I only wish it was last year! Sadly youth appears to indeed be wasted on the young. I only wish I'd realized the difference between intelligence and experience a bit earlier, something I try to convey to my kids, as well as trying to bring them up the experience curve as fast as possible.
No kidding. Your 3 years ahead of me. I was a competitive runner some years back. 10 miles on the street today, and I feel like a truck hit me.
Perhaps subscribing to one "ism" vs another is just playing into the old divide and conquer script. Foster Gamble (PG heir) has a free movie on youtube called "Thrive: What on earth would it take?". I think it's worth a watch.
Is that the generally accepted meaning of red = left wing or the US version red = right wing republican ?
The rich in the USA are becoming increasingly like the old European aristocracy. The children of billionaires inheriting big properties etc. The Kennedys, Rockefellars, Trumps, Clintons etc. are there for the foreseeable future and won't be giving up political power any time soon.
Yet the leftists are fed and brainwashed by the Rockefellers, Rotschilds, Clintons, Soros, etc. P.S. I am not a leftist nor a right winger. I am pro life, pro gun control, believe in global warming, believe that capitalism is a better system than socialism for the current world, and anti-Islamisation. P.P.S. I am pro gun control not because it is bad, but because of my religious values. If I were to be an atheist, I would say freedom to bear arms makes more sense in order to protect ones selves.
I have come to accept that due to a million plus years of chiefs and kings a large percentage of humans drift back to following the tribal strong man or alpha families. When faced with fear and uncertainty and as many Republican's perceived Obama's black face as not their tribe, and a fair whack of Democrats are similarly just seeking shelter. Democracy is a neat idea but it is undermined by instinct. So much including some people's adored Rand is just puffery to make something embarrassingly simple seem something else.
The aristocracy in the US isn’t wealth, it’s education: kids who go to Ivy’s and become the professors, doctors, top end lawyers, engineers at top companies, and entrepreneurs. They marry other ivy leaguers and their kids go to Ivy’s (where legacy helps a lot) and the cycle continues.
