So why Tesla didn't pick Poland for their European factory?

I bet ABB goes up more percentage-wise though.
    You watch...
20% on TSLA puts us at $960
20% on ABB puts it just shy of $40.
TSLA might win, but minimizing the downside risk, the smart folks will go with ABB.
It's an elephant though, A GE. A Siemens. That said, ABB at $33 is a good buy for the long haul.
For our brave new world that is., like it or not.

ABB is the e-station, right? I've been tracking the competition BLNK CHPT, VLTA and EVGO which have been surprisingly disappointing. The charging business is tough, capital intensive for a quickly evolving tech.. by the time you're done installing your 100k delivery stations, someone comes along with a delivery system twice as efficient and now you're out of business.

    Elon, I told you so:

    https://www.reuters.com/world/europ...on-repeated-2021-10-21/?utm_source=reddit.com

"In his two-year battle to get production running at the site, Musk has expressed irritation at German laws and processes, arguing complex planning requirements were at odds with the urgency needed to fight climate change."

"he hoped to begin production in November, which looks increasingly unlikely as authorities first need to review the latest submissions before deciding whether to grant approval."

Factory has been ready to go, but the Germans are still deciding about the paperwork. Adding a battery factory didn't help Tesla's case. Even after the final permit, if the factory uses too much water, it can be halted.

Exactly. Elon Musk is an ego driven individual looking for affirmation from adoring groupies.
Clearly, he picked Germany to show the world's best car makers that Tesla will beat them all. It's profoundly not understanding the German culture and how Germans in the auto industry operate. There's a reason German manufacturers have been around for a century. Yes, their engineering is top notch and yes, the government will ensure they continue to thrive. The relationships are incestuous, government, special interest groups, management and unions are all bound by the same goal, Deutschland Uber Alles. That Elon Musk and his team didn't account for this is at minimum a sign of naivety and Tesla is now deep in crap, as I expected back when I first heard of their intent to plant their flag there years ago.
So what's going to happen? All the strings are tied to Tesla the muppet. Agitators, unions, special interest groups like local environmentalists, animal activists and whoever else will pull to create issues, local governments will pull to intervene and reassure, all the while Tesla will struggle to meet production goals, expansion plans and profit margins. This will go on and on until finally Elon Musk decides to cut his losses, shuts down the German factory and move elsewhere in Europe, be it Poland, Romania or even a smaller factory in Spain which would open the European market to Mexican production.

All he had to do was move the factory 100 miles to Szczecin and build a hotel for the German engineers, who could have gone home for the weekends. And the factory would have had a shipping port too.

  8. Then why are there 7 million Turks living there ?

  9. I would have built the factory in Turkey. Europe has been near-shoring most of their machinery/auto/appliance manufacture there anyway..so why not Tesla. Most young hard working Poles have moved further into western EU and UK already. There is a reason they dont allow Turkey to enter EU. Keep them like a Mexico for cheap labor. Elon is not nearly as smart as he thinks.

What does that have to do with my point? And it's 3 million.
