So Long Firefox, It's Been Real

  1. With FF I can move Tabs no problem at all. Click and slide... I have an extension that opens new tabs with my pre-chosen url. Can't really see the problem with Tabs.

With an extension [half the functionality of FF is via extensions] I can synch up FF and even have it's extensions stored in the cloud in case I rebuild a machine...

Yes, I can move tabs around or pull them out into separate windows in both FF and in Chrome, but in Chrome it is smoother.

As for the other stuff, Chrome has the functionality built in. I have enough stuff to deal with without having to waste time finding just the right extension, etc.. Sometimes having stuff "just work" without having to tweak things is the best option. Not for everyone, but is for me in this case :)

  3. No, the NSA has been advised of the issue and an upgrade is coming when the government opens again.:)

The lower meant timing, not memory. They measured speed after they opened up a bunch of tabs. The point of the comparison was that Chrome and IE 10 were twice as fast as FF, once loaded with tabs. Opera was way behind....

hey billyjoerob, I'm trying to use blocksite but can't find any lists of good websites to block (for the purpose of speeding up Firefox). Where did you get the names that you posted, and are there any blacklists available to be imported into blocksite?

  7. You know - I never paid attention to it before you mentioned it. It seems it is a common complaint that has not been addressed for a couple years. Guess for you FF may be the best option till G addresses this.

  8. been using ff for many years. running an ANCIENT profile with many add ons.

    the op is a nitwit.

ok, maybe a little harsh, but not sure why ff got the blame for whatever issues there were.

I stress the crap out of ff and it's better than its ever been. rarely crashes, and has no interference with anything else running on the computer.

    so, enough misdirected ff bashing.

  9. I just use blocksite to block sites that I've noticed are notorious slow-loaders, like *scorecardresearch* *linkedin* *facebook* *voicefive*

You can use the wildcard to block anything with that word in the address.

Most of the other bad sites should be blocked by adblock. I don't know, maybe adblock could be used for same thing.

Ghostery may do the same thing as Blocksites, don't know.
Reviews for Blocksites claims it's spyware, but to some degree any extension might phone home with private info.
Am using Cyberfox on a ram drive, so far so good.
