About three months ago I began learning about investing and related topics in an effort to become self-managed.

I started out with an interest in stock markets and setup a 'wall st survivor' virtual account to get an idea of the game. I found I really liked watching the market and comparing charts even though I had no idea what I was doing. I began to realize how much learning is in front of me.

Everyday I check the markets, watch BNN and read a few blogs and information sites. I think I've been getting a broad exposure to the economic and investing world and learning some other things too. All this stuff was new to me 3 months ago and I feel I've come along. But I haven't learned much about actual trading.

At this point I seem to think I can be more active than a couch potato type investor, and why not? I don't have to be HFTing to be active, right? I just would like to be a little more ontop of things.

I want to learn the basics so I can start my self-managed account and be ready to make a play.

I'm just looking for some guidance, words of wisdom or any online resources to help get me started. I am pretty sure I'm going to be looking at some technical info and learning things like moving averages and charting techniques.I know theres a lot of them. I want to be able to confidently make my first investments sooner than later, but not rushed/clueless.

    Thanks
