boot time is what makes you think its no better?

if you guys want to speed up windows boot time with a new processor try this:

    1. Click on Start, enter "msconfig" into the search field
    2. Open the "boot" tab
    3. Click on Advanced
    4. Check "Number of processors" and select "2" or "4" from the dropdown menu. (obviously, you can only select it if you have a dual-core/quad-core).

  2. Win7 RC brought my POS laptop to life.

Back to XP after a clean wipe and the boot time feels like years. With XP, it takes a few minutes for my CPU to be completely idle after displaying the desktop after a boot, I don't run antivirus and I disable any extra startup items and services.

Not with Windows 7, it was ready right away, and never caused the errors or choppiness that I have now with XP simply browsing a website. It was quicker in every way possible.

Shitty as it is now, the laptop ran Ninja7/Zen through the crash last week without a flinch.

Instead of upgrading the OS, I'll just buy a new desktop system that comes with Win7, along with the i7 and an HD video card for about a grand, about the price I paid for this shit laptop three years ago.
