It happened in a split second as the circuit breakers didn't have time to stop it. The U.S. government set the dow at 4,000 but it never reopened. It was down something like -11326 which implied it was at 12000 and change. There was a collapse of government and other institutions such as the power grid and telecommunications but it wasn't as bad as one my expect. The idea was to escape the big cities and work on a farm so you could eat. I think I ended up in Iowa after a daring escape from Manhattan. There was no gasoline so everyone was forced to revert back to a simpler way of life. There was widespread theft but not as many murders. On the contrary, people were trying to help each other. All this happened over the course of a couple weeks in my dream. From the stock market super crash, the escape from New York, the collapse of institutions, and the beginning of a new life as a farmer's helper in Iowa.
