So how are those put selling programs working out?

Iron condors, put selling etc.. is like any appealing drug and those pushing em through newsletters or whatever are no different than drug dealers.

Fortunately I don't have an addictive personailty.

Selling puts makes perfect sense if you really want to buy the underlying asset at the strike price. I'm willing to own AA at $9 and PBR at $25 so I sold the appropriate puts. I did this in small size because I am assuming the puts might actually get exercised.
Needless to say this isn't going to get me rich but the alternative of setting a buy limit order doesn't pay me anything at all.

Selling puts only gets people into trouble if they sell more than they're willing to buy shares. If you don't want to have to buy 10,000 shares of XYZ don't sell 100 puts on XYZ.

  3. I've been a put credit spread seller since I got back in the market in late December. Yes I "had my hat handed to me" with the recent actions.

    For hard real world numbers:

    I was up 46% YTD.

    I'm now up 10% YTD.

I learned a few lessons, needless to say.

So I'm still up for the year, but took a big hit.

    Oh well....

I've said before that I thought I should sit out for a while, but I was greedy I guess.
