New Urban Dictionary entry pegs Harry Reid as child molester 10:00 PM 08/08/2012 The high-stakes political battle between Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has taken a new turn, and itâs as ugly as Jerry Sanduskyâs future. The Urban Dictionary, an fast-evolving online lexicon that promotes itself as âthe dictionary you wrote,â has added a new definition of Reid that seems calculated to respond to the Nevada senatorâs recent claims about Romneyâs alleged federal income tax evasion. âHarry Reid,â the dictionary now says, is defined as â[a]n unofficial rap sheet of alleged pederasty and sexual abuse of minors by anonymous sources that may not exist.â The definition emerged, the dictionary notes, âafter an explosion of reports surfaced online and on the airwaves, that [Reid] is a serial pederast. The outlets reporting the allegations all protected the anonymity of their sources, and no one knows if the allegations are true, but theyâre out there. A spokesperson for Reid declined to deny them.â Itâs unknown who submitted the definition. The Urban Dictionary employs a panel of moderators who approve of reject new definitions, many of which hinge on pop-culture references. Reid attracted criticism from conservatives after he told The Huffington Post on July 31 that an unnamed Bain Capital investor told him Romney âdidnât pay any taxes for 10 years.â And speaking August 2 on the floor of the U.S. Senate, Reid doubled down. âThe word is out that [Romney] has not paid any taxes for 10 years,â Reid declared. âLet him prove he has paid taxes, because he has not.â Republicansâ complaints have largely centered on the anonymity of Reidâs source, which makes his allegation impossible to prove. The same phenomenon apparently applies to The Urban Dictionaryâs anonymous, unsubstantiated claim â which is obviously false â that Reid himself is a âpederast,â or a man who has sexual relations with young boys. The Internet meme that put the new Reid definition on the map originated within hours of Reidâs initial statement, when conservatives began to use the Twitter hash-tag â#HarryReidisaPederast.â At one point that evening, the hash-tag was the top trending item on Twitter in the United States. âSome guy told me #HarryReidIsAPederast,â read one typical tweet. âNot sure if its true, but I should probably just throw it out there and let the people decide.â âSo an unnamed source has told another that #HarryReidIsAPederast,â tweeted another user. âReid is silent. Whereâs the front page story @HuffingtonPost?â The Twitter account managed by Ace of Spades, a conservative blog, now declares that it is â[a]n account to remember the alleged victims of Harry Reid, and those fresh victims inevitably to come.â âIf Harry Reid isnât a pederast, why is everyone saying he is?â that account tweeted Aug. 2. âPeople donât just make up vicious smears for political advantage.â A Google search Wednesday evening turned up more than 482,000 results for the combination of âHarry Reidâ and âpederast.â Reidâs liberal allies have largely supported him in his claim that Romney failed to pay taxes for a full decade â including a super PAC affiliated with the powerful AFL-CIO federation of labor unions. (RELATED: Liberals have Dirty Harryâs back on tax charge against Romney) Reid and other Democrats have argued that Romney should make public his personal income tax returns for more than the two years he has already released. The move is seen as an attempt to paint the former Massachusetts governor as an out-of-touch, wealthy elite. But Reidâs accusation that he is also a tax evader â a charge that Romney has flatly denied â has put Republicans in a box, since releasing ten yearsâ worth of tax returns is the only practical way to demonstrate that Reidâs claim is false. Fact-checkers at the Tampa Bay Timesâ âPolitiFactâ website quickly declared that Reidâs public accusation is false, giving it a âPants on Fireâ rating on July 31. Update: Reid spokesman Adam Jentleson has not responded to The Daily Callerâs request, first made August 4, for confirmation or denial about whether the Senate Majority Leader is in fact a pederast. Jentleson offered a one-word comment on the developing story to the Ace of Spades blog on Aug. 3: âCute.â Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2012/08/08/n...s-harry-reid-as-child-molester/#ixzz23A95acRk
Harry "Sandusky" Reid is at it again. Reid says he can't work with Romney Five days before the election, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has ruled out trying to work with Mitt Romney should he win next week. "Mitt Romney's fantasy that Senate Democrats will work with him to pass his 'severely conservative' agenda is laughable," Mr. Reid said in a statement on Friday, trying to puncture Mr. Romney's closing election argument that he'll be able to deliver on the bipartisanship President Obama promised in 2008 but has struggled to live up to. Mr. Reid, a Nevada Democrat and a Mormon, like Mr. Romney, has become the Republican presidential nominee's chief critic this campaign, at one point accusing him of failing to pay taxes â a charge that Mr. Romney has refuted. With Democrats appearing poised to keep control of the Senate, a President Romney would have to be prepared to work with Mr. Reid, who would set the upper chamber's schedule and determine what bills make it to the floor. Mr. Reid flatly ruled out following Mr. Romney's agenda, saying he and his colleagues have already voted down many of those proposals, including House Republicans' budget, written by Republican vice presidential nominee Rep. Paul Ryan. "Mitt Romney has demonstrated that he lacks the courage to stand up to the tea party, kowtowing to their demands time and again. There is nothing in Mitt Romney's record to suggest he would act any differently as president," Mr. Reid said. Mr. Romney has argued over the last week that his experience in Massachusetts working with a Democratic-controlled legislature has left him prepared to work with Congress. He has also vowed to hold regular meetings with congressional leaders to let both sides talk through their issues. Mr. Reid challenged Mr. Romney's memory of Massachusetts, saying he sealed "himself off behind a velvet rope instead of reaching out to build relationships." With a huge agenda awaiting them, and control of Congress likely to be split, the next president will have to find a way to work with both parties. Republicans in Congress â and even some Democrats â have criticized Mr. Obama for failing to do that during his first term. The president won passage of his health care law and the 2009 stimulus, but played defense for most of the last two years as Republicans pushed for spending cuts.
