I have an LG fridge and it's terrible, even Soviet era fridges were much better. Door hinges don't hold properly so air gets in, it's frozen shut every week. Had an LG monitor which was also trash. I've better experience with Samsung electronics but their fridges seem to suck. Generally I'm over Korean products, they make shortcuts like the Chinese.
So, I went with a.... Kenmore. Yea, a brand no one talked about I think. I think they just sell other manufacturer's brands. Costco, 90 day returns no questions asked. I'll try and snap some pics when it comes in and let everyone know if there were initial build quality problems. Thanks for the help everyone!!!
Cool. How much did it cost? I usually to Costco once per week but I've never bought any appliances there.
$1,499, it was "on sale" a few hundred dollars off the normal price. But they don't have them in the store, I actually drove to the local Costco and they had only 3 refrigerators out, the cheapest one was like $2,500. They've got hundreds online.
We have a now 11 year old LG, and only problem was when cooling fan stopped due to dog fur accumulation. We got it for over 50% off when they were closing a Best Buy in the area and clearing out inventory. Previously we had a Gibson that came with the house. Now that was a workhorse. It lasted 18 years for us and was most likely at least 10 years old when we moved in. I'm not sure they are made anymore. Good luck with the new fridge.
You have already encountered the reality that Samsung refrigerators are not reliable. Samsung is the only brand I strongly avoid for refrigerators due to experiences my neighbors have had with them. I currently have a KitchenAid refrigerator. It has worked flawlessly for the past 7 years in my current home. I also had KitchenAid refrigerators in previous homes; all have worked well.
Yep. What is funny is that I knew that going in. I did research and found out that the freezer on top/refrigerator on bottom, with no ice maker/water dispenser, was generally the best quality wise, and which brands were generally recommended over others (with Samsung being on the non-recommended list, and the list generally consistent with what people said in this thread). I told my significant other that therefore we needed to get a [Maytag] model with freezer on top, no ice maker or water dispenser. My significant other said thanks for doing all that research, but we are getting a side by side Samsung. LOL, you win some you lose some...
Haha indeed, but in fairness to me, my significant other wouldn't think ANYBODY'S research on the subject matter was significant, that Samsung refrigerator just looked too good for anything as silly as "research" to matter!
