I find it almost a 'fools errand' to try to predict catalyst's and other things in crypto. I'll see a half-decent crypto-project just fail and collapse, while other (obvious scams) take off to the moon. Even when it's 99.9% sure it will be rug-pulled. No point in adding logical thinking to this. Even JOKE coins ends up mooning.... for reasons due to doggie images?
I have used IBKR for over 20 years. But I would say trading crypto with it is soooo backward. There are so many features needed in crypto trading that is not available in IBKR. I use kucoin, coinbase pro (in my opinion, the worst there is for crypto trading, ethically), FTX, and a dozen other defi swaps. For US citizens, try https://www.kucoin.com/ucenter/signup?rcode=rJGE2WW to learn how backward IBKR is in this field. It is like in the age of smart phones, you only use your smart phone texting and calling. Also, the best platform with many built in bots trading, totally free, is https://www.pionex.com/en-US/sign/ref/5yrEpucL
I use IBKR on my smartphone every day at work during breaks. As for trading options on crypto, IBKR is the most trusted method I've found... You could use DeFi methods like 'Opyn', etc... but these have been hacked before, at huge detriment... have no way for a clearing house to step in and mitigate counter-party risk, and aside from smart-contract bugs, have insane gas fees. It only costs me $1.25 CAN per contract on IBKR and everything is recorded nicely for my tax filing at the end of the year
Forgot to give an update on my positions after Expiration Friday. Turns out I did indeed get put on the hook for close to 4K of BitCoin holdings. It's ok, not the end of the world. That said, this monday morning I see we went through yet ANOTHER dip! This time I shorted more puts (refused to short any further calls though). I really love the CI Galaxy Ethereum ETF!
