Close +40 not going where I want, going to bed (playing open would be better but super tired and need to wake in 2 h).
Missed out on what appears to have been one of the greatest trading days of the year due to other commitments, grrr... Even worse, I got home in evening, was being distracted by GF by the usual stuff, then later got around to sitting next to her with my laptop. In that moment, I decided to start up my trade algo (since at that point it appeared that NQ had reversed into a small uptrend). The only trade I made ended in -170, because: 1) I traded sitting very casually in a sofa. I hate sitting with laptops in a sofa. Even more, I didn't have a mouse. When I wanted to close trade as it was just losing money (this happened within seconds of entry), I missed the close button because of tracking pad inaccuracy. 2) I was super tired and slept 1 h in total previous night. 3) I was trading in front of and bothered by GF more concerned about saving far less money on hotel deals than I lost a few seconds later. 4) Old bug (I haven't at all gotten around to fixing the many bugs in my own software) made initial positions be placed very close to another due to poor warmup. In this case, I got twice as large a position as I wanted. 1-3 are entirely avoidable, just accept that lack of sleep and pride/disturbances are blockers. 4 is of course avoidable in a sense but I take a calculated risk by using my software since I am still able to correct problems reasonably fast manually in the broker's regular app running in parallel. Would say the key takeaway is, I did not stick to plan. Glad I did just one trade since I lost it (very tricky market reversal instantly on entry). "Glad" I just lost 0.4% of account or similar, but that is 0.4% too much. Especially if this is something I repeat (lack of sleep trading is definitely a bad behavior I keep repeating).
Buy XAUUSD x 62 @ 1438.1 stop 1434.66 Been waiting for gold to move over 1425-30ish for a while, making a small bet here thus. Risk of immediate reversal but decent RR despite the low probability.
Trading NFP, market open and Michigan/factory data today. Eating crayfish afterward or whatever the name is in English.
Gold closed bad price, -220. Thought it was -400 first (displayed), broker has their execution platform together. Edit 2: Gold is actually higher, illustrates issue of holding with narrow stop over news releases.
NFP doesn't seem to go much in either direction, next stop market open. Maybe it will be a BTFD opportunity. Need to be careful though, if this is the start of a correction I will get run over with a long. I also think that this point, the first round of dip buyers were pulverized yesterday and subsequently will be more careful today.
Buy NAS100USD x 24 @ 7705 stop 7692 Leaving this one on and going AFK, active trading is pointless with the chop. Have a slight long conviction from here.
