Added 88 to same stop. If this fails I take a break for today in order to not get further from fresh account peak. Started to feel exhausted last hour anyway. Edit: Close +100, preparing to get out simply because I'm tired. Edit2: Closed remainder for -238. Time to sleep before GF gets home talking about irrelevant stuff
Got crushed on NQ intraday attempts today, -600 more. Staying away for remainder of day. The reason was simple: Trying to be clever about stops to e.g. have 200 risk where 1000 was automatically calculated to be appropriate. It also meant that I'm stuck tweaking stop prices in input dialog when entering into a trend and missing the better part of it. Remedy for next time: Scale back default risk from 1000 to 800 (and default size, because chance is stop will be slightly larger in practice since stop price is autoset in dialog on open and from there price moves); then don't mess around with it. Two good trendy periods in NQ today that I was actually monitoring, so no excuses. Got into a habit of tweaking stops because in theory it's very nice to assume I can enter into a trend by risking 200 and making 4000 by being clever about stop placement, mathematically it is quite unlikely however. So, new account peak today and already in about 1800-2000 drawdown I think.
Lost another 300 on NQ short right after midnight btw. Still overall result tonight was good. Suddenly sat on an insane burst in gold and trusted my instinct to sell on peak, because it seemed insanely good. Now question is what trend for rest of night is. Need to show up in office tomorrow to discuss something with a client so not sure I should be sitting up...
Shorting NQ overnight would have been the right thing to do in retrospect. Didn't feel like taking a position because I had no idea how large stop would be required (turned out, not so wide).
