Rahm is on his way out and trying to maintain some shred of credibility as he plans his next move in politics or the ever lucrative media commentary career. It's really difficult to deny what is such an obvious shady deal and walk away expecting anyone to listen to you ever again.
Time for another Operation Greylord: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Greylord There needs to be one at least every generation. Corruption is rampant in this country; from the Highest Office to individual cities. Public servants mostly interested in their personal interests: nepotism; cronyism; pay-to-play; quid pro quo; etc.
What happened today in Chicago is just plain bad for the country. Left, Right, Black, White, etc., NOBODY should be celebrating this travesty (except Smollet). What a disgrace to the American justice system.
https://chicagoist.com/2016/03/10/kim_foxx_funding.php A Look At The 'Dark Money' Behind Kim Foxx's States Attorney Campaign But Kim Foxx has also found two other sources of cash, in the form of twin $300,000 donations to a Super PAC supporting her called Illinois Safety & Justice. The sole donors to the PAC are neoliberal superdonor and conservative-boogeyman George Soros and a "dark-money" group called Civic Participation Action Fund.
I don't really see what Soros would gain out of this. Does he even know who this Smollett guy is? I think this is more a case of the rich people who run the party selecting a minority female to front for them and imaging they could control her. Once in power, she went tribal immediately. Emmanuel better watch his step. Few pols in Chicago don't have some dirt in the corner.
Plenty more where this came from. https://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/george-soros-criminal-justice-reform-227519
The charges against Smollett were dropped in return for his agreement to do community service, he said, and for forfeiting his bond to the city of Chicago.
