I will scan for those reviews ... I'm attempting to help my son get into the process. It's frustrating trying to find an educational process in this field with at least a semblance of possible progress that can be made. Thank you for your thoughts!
The value of joining prop firm is not in education but rather in the opportunity to be around successful traders and being held accountable. The education is kind of like core curriculum in college, imho.
Makes sense. The probability to even make it through the door at a prop firm (let alone trade successfully) seems akin to making a pro sports team or acting career. I need a high probability entry/exit for him. (my trading isn't a knockout example shall we say :^)
Hm, unless he is 5yo, it sounds like you may make it worse by “helping.” They are all low probably, so better to make piece with this early. Just my opinion.
the only high prob road is to find a winning trader who will teach how good luck with that i said a winning trader, not a bald con man who was able to win 20 years ago but not since
Most of what's taught on trading courses could be picked up for free or much lower cost. But if you're in a desperate hurry to get on with trading its OK to pay someone else to collate all the education you will need and to take it from them in a condensed package. But students should ask themselves, why am I in such a hurry when I clearly already have so much money?
LOL ... Definitely that danger with me. But I made peace with that issue about 15 yr ago when he was sure the old man was about a dumb as they come. Now he's had a chance to attend the school of hard knocks, we are talking more. It's a good thing. As long as he asks, I'll give it a shot. Never can tell, I might just accidentally hit some dumb good luck. :^)
The SMB partners are high quality guys that run a great office with many highly profitable and growing traders. I know as I am partners with them in our NY office. I cannot speak to the online education as I have not been through it. It is very hard to get a seat on their desk. They provide a great environment to become a very good trader if you put in the work and have a knack for trading. Good trading to all.
Hey Andy, would you mind helping out on my question? Loved your podcast with chatwithtraders btw, haha https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/transitioning-from-retail-trading-to-prop-firm.353303/
