Well, seeing that it won so much last night lets at least give it a tribute: * Movie focuses on kids trading their way up, autographs, resealing water (to sell as bottled water), saying their tour guides, selling other ppls stuff, etc. When you have nothing to lose, these guys traded their way up the whole movie. * Conceptually, we are a all slumdog (if you're here) trying to make it to the next level. If you got $1billion, even if I have a couple of million.. I'm a slumdog/nonthreat/just another piker... * The ultimate trade, they made this move for sub $15 million I think, grosses over $150m so far and wins a bazillion Oscars. Nice job Fox Searchlight for picking up it (another great trade, seeing value when no one else did or buying that .01 cent call when no one thought it had any value...) I think this movie celebrates everything we are trying to achieve. So perhaps it is about trading in its purest form, it truly is a movie about trading and making it. Congrats to Slumdog Millionaire!
