Elected Assholes, I'd prefer dictatorship they get there by being clever and strong, you got Biden, they got Putin and we got Boris, dictatorships are winning. Democracy, just a way for the pond scum to rise to the top.
Right again. By the way, the word "democracy" is never mentioned in the US constitution or the Declaration of Independence. . Contrary to popular belief, the USA is a represented REPUBLIC, not a democracy. In fact, the Founding Fathers were against all things involving a “democracy.”
Lol, this bs has been spewed for years by idiots who don't understand political definitions but want to sound smart. Congrats, you won the dummy prize!
From the Britannica: "Republic, form of government in which a state is ruled by representatives of the citizen body. ... Because citizens do not govern the state themselves but through representatives, republics may be distinguished from direct democracy, though modern representative democracies are by and large republics."
In a republic, the law (written in the Constitution) is the ultimate rule of the land. In the USA, this means that each citizen has certain natural, inalienable rights which the government has no authority to tamper with. However, in a democracy, the supreme rule of the land is simply dictated by the current opinion of the masses, so the rights of each individual are subject to the opionion of the majority (which can easily be manipulated via the media and other medium of propaganda). This is absolutely contrary to the system of government that this country was institutionally designed to uphold and enforce, that's why our Founding Fathers never intended for the USA to be a democracy. And by the way, historically, all so-called democracies have failed.
wu...what? Where did you get your little poli sci story from? Got to start reading more than Breibart and co constitutional propaganda. Constitutions are fundamental laws of the land. Like all laws, they are subject to modification and the US Constitution has gone through several amendments in its history. Constitutions can even be garbaged and replaced with a new one, as has been done by European nations over the course of their history. Amendments are political in nature since they are issued by the other branches of government. Because we are a democratic republic, We The People modify the Constitution through our elected representatives. There are no inalienable rights that can't be eliminated by force or will, that also goes for our Constitution. We secured our freedom from the British not by asking but by taking it from them. Our Constitution came under threat by our secessionist war when some thought owning slaves was inalienable. Some reading this probably still do. Inalienable rights posits idealism, something that so called realists abhor. I took you for the latter and that's a bit concerning because idealists with right wing views have a history of destruction.
"If voting made a difference, they wouldn't let us do it." - Mark Twain Ignorance is bliss. Open your eyes.
Voting brought us Obama and Trump, so yes, we can elect the best and the worse. One thing is certain, they were not the same.
