Of course it’s a bad thing! You are paying more taxes in order to have the privilege of spending more money on goods and services! So that a bunch of people can choose not to work. Start a business. Hire a bunch of workers at $15-20 an hour. Understand how people at that wage level think (both good and bad) and then let’s have a discussion. Until then you don’t know what you are talking about. I have 300 employees in that wage range. I’m all for a safety net, but the Covid stimulus’s were largely just handouts to the point that those who really needed it didn’t get it.
Yes because they were ... laid off for one day a week. Were restaurant and hotel and airline workers laid off for one a week? And many others? Still?
well, you couldn’t quit and get the unemployment. So you had a weird situation. If you were earning 7.7 hour cleaning horse poop, you were out of luck.
What’s your point? I’m saying that they had no incentive to look for another job. I get that jobs weren’t easy to find then but it created a perverse incentive that they shouldn’t look for a job. And now to continue it as the economy is reopening is beyond stupid. I thought you understood all this. Didn’t you own some businesses?
I did own two businesses and it is why I do understand it. When there are no jobs, there is no reason to look for one. An anecdotal story or two is not the whole story. People are not choosing to stay unemployed simply because they got a lousy stinking $1400.
I think you missed my point again. Let's wait a bit to make that call. those service sector jobs are just now starting to open up again. And congratulations if your hauling in 400K/yr or more. Nice going. The rest of us will see a little increase but not much most of this stimulus is going to be paid for with deficit spending . And that doesn't necessarily have to be paid back in they way we think it does. It only has to be paid back if it turns out it was too much spending too quickly and we run into inflation that our income does not keep up with. Then we will pay it via inflation. (I think we will see stepped up inflation coming up, but I attribute the inflation we are seeing now despite the official tally, as due to Trump deficits. As far as i'm concerned the jury is already in on the effect of massive deficits under full employment -- i.e., first three years of the Trump 'administration')* _________________ *I apologize for using the word 'administration' so loosely.
It’s not our story. It’s the story of the 16 recruiting firms we use throughout all the states we have facilities.
Inflation because there will be demand for goods and services from free government stimulus and no supply because few job takers. It’s already happening. taxes have to go up. Covid was the greatest wealth transfer in american history. First by Trumps incompetence and now Biden’s giveaway.
