I'm the same way. Doesn't matter if it's a super small position or a position that's well in the money. If I'm in the market, I think about the market constantly. Day trading and being flat every time I log off solves this. To be fair, I still think a great deal about the markets, but not like I have to check the quotes constantly. Very interesting. I take a low dose of oxazepam once in a while as I believe it gives me deeper sleep. Never had much of an issue with going to sleep, but I can sometimes feel like the sleep isn't deep or long enough. Oxazepam is fairly addictive, though, so I'm very cautious on dosage and will cycle it. Your comment had me worried about potential side-effects, though, so maybe that was the kick I needed to stop it for good.
I wonder which is more damaging to the brain-- perpetual sleep deprivation or prolonged use of sleep medication? My problem with fasting is that I have to eat something before going to bed.
I hear you. Before I got on Ambien, I suffered with severe, chronic sleep deprivation for many, many years. It was a nightmare trying to get through the day after only two or three hours of sleep, and then slept damn near the entire weekend trying to catch up. It was a vicious roller coaster I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I actually do believe sleeping pills are a better alternative to chronic sleep deprivation, but if you don't fix the underlying cause of the problem, in the long run, I think you will run into trouble with the sleeping pills. Like you, I constantly snacked all the way up to bedtime due to carb cravings. When I got on strict keto and started fasting, I took one tablespoon of MCT oil at 6 PM, and did the same thing at 6 AM, and again at noon. This helped generate ketones which the body can use as an energy source. Once I did that, as my body transitioned to burning fat (instead of carbs) for fuel, I stopped having carb cravings and had no problem going without food after 6 PM.
I trade round the clock, but I still stick to a system. Forex, Bitcoin, and Day Trading. Small and niche. Translation services, Forex and Bitcoin services, Photoshop services.
My "swing trading" is actually looking for add on to my long term commodities system, hedge the futures for few days. Recently, came up with previous new system of doing reversals. The difference is trade an hour before Europe starts trading and 2nd session is hour before USA trades. Unlike going for points, net $100 per session, per market. Let account say when to add more size, so after few months be trading 10-20 lots on each session till net $100 per market. At worse trade 2 hours each session.
Your comment had me seriously consider sticking only to RTH trading. Unless I had someone trade for me or I can automate my trading in ETH. I am not taking any drug right now and I hope not to do that.
I like trading 1 hour before Europe open and after, move is much more clear, I don't know if it has something to do with HFT machine is off during that period or what. I guess you are scalping around your core position? I do that often and that lead to my lack of sleep which I am planning to stop doing unless someone can trade for me someday.
i do not think you understand what scalping is. scalping is trading high probability set ups and if a trade is high probability, it means the reward is small and win rate is high-if win rate is not higher than 70% the scalper will not make money. because of high probability you do not need a high reward to risk to make money. so to ask for a scalping strategy that gives profit factor of two is ,to me, quite incomprehensible. trading is mathematics.
