Here I've been running around with a tape measure when I could have tried the cardboard cutouts, and had a MUCH better view of what the finished display is going to look like... MUCH appreciated bolimomo! The six 22's certainly would be more cost effective. Some want me to do the 30's, and others say go with 24's, or 22's. I'm slowly suffering from "analysis paralysis." This is something that I take as seriously as building a house, for example, so it's been a "I'll order this setup. No, I'll order that setup," etc., That suggestion has given me the ability to FINALLY make a decision, and spend the $. Thanks! Once it's done, I'll put some pics together, and post them.
Just got back window-shopping at Fry's. Some updates: PNY 8400 GS - they do support the 2560 x 1600 resolution with the DVI output. With VGA only 2040 x 1080 (or something like that). So if your monitors have DVI input you are okay. (PNY 8400 GS has dual DVI outputs on each card.) The current price for 24" monitor: $250. 22" monitor: slightly less than $200. I have many Samsang SyncMaster 22" and 23". I love them. The color is great. EGVA 8400 GS cards on sale... with rebates... only $35 a card. (Not sure if both are DVI though. Some cards have 1 VGA and 1 DVI config).
Before you spend you money on the 10GB memory... Consider this: My set up. I originally configured 12GB memory on my Intel i7-930 box. But later on I pulled out 6GB and use them on a second box. With 6GB, i7-930, Windows 7 64-bit, driving 8 monitors, running TradeStation: about 30 charts total: Memory usage: usually less than 4GB used, leaving >2GB free. I think the additional memory (>6GB) may be a waste. Unless 10GB and 6GB are about the same price.
http://www.newegg.com/ and http://www.tigerdirect.com as well as http://www.frys.com are all good places to look for parts. Especially monitors at newegg which has an excellent reputation for customer service. They have a very large offering of monitors. And there are many threads here discussing different large size displays.
I'm looking at these two. 27" Samsungs. My monitor of choice. They look good for a reasonable price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...001077 40000020 600030620&IsNodeId=1&name=27"
Suggest checking out ASUS VW266H. They are 25.5" (and you'd save $200), but are 1920x1200 instead of 1920x1080.
here it is...good deal! http://www.buy.com/prod/asus-vw266h...-2ms-1920-x-1200-dvi/q/loc/101/210447661.html another interesting new model: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...d=24471&lid=566643&acd=10550055-404255-151520
You guys are outstanding! I really can't justify buying one completed, when building one with your help is much more fun! Kind of like going out and buying a C6 Z06 vs. building/specing out a custom hot rod with everything you want, minus what you don't need. PLUS, I'm sure it's going to be cool sitting in front of the completed project, trading and saying to myself, "got this done with help from actual traders, not a computer company wanting to sell a 'trading' system." Thanks again! I owe you all one!
Don't forget our cut on the big trading profits you'll be making. Hey, altruism only goes so far..............................kidding
I just sent the IRS a check. But, that's not going to kill my day/week/etc., And yes, I'll certainly remember you guys! Might have to put you all on my list at Christmas!
