Simple System for Beginners

Discussion in 'Strategy Building' started by AnomalyResearch, Aug 30, 2004.

  1. This a breakout system. I think, the _most_ robust family of systems around, in terms of longevity. But the key to make money on this is the same as any other system, that you think is good. You _must_ keep trading it, even when when you make 10 losses in a row. And you will, guaranteed.

BTW, add a 4 point stop on the trades. The results would increase significantly with less DD. Also, no money management is possible if you don't know your maximum risk going into the trade.

  3. Does anyone here trade the ER2 enough to know if it can absorb 10-lots without too much slippage using this system instead of 1 contract? Just curious.

  4. Here comes the big money :D

I have never done 10 lots. But been trading it long enough to see 50+ lots flying all the time. ER2 book is pretty deep. But when it moves, it moves fast. If you get cought in one of those times, you will have slippage (a tick or two). But you would have that even on 2 contracts.

  5. Well... suggestion: I would set my buy stop one tick below that 1.0033 entry point and sell stop one tick above the 0.9967 entry point, Darth. That way, when my 10-lot stop is triggered, you can make a quick tick or two if you get out right away.

Also, that size should encourage the faders to come in as well to blow it all to hell.

    :D :D :D :D

  7. It lost money this week -- @ $200 contract. Probably a good idea not to be doing 10 lots eh? :)

  8. That depends on how the system does overall. It would be unwise to just jump in and throw 10-lots around without being thoroughly familiar with the system's drawdowns and other statistical expectations. I follow this thread because I think it is interesting to see simplicity at work.

  9. Hello everybody,
I have readen your post and I have found it very interesting.
I'm french, and since two weeks,I'm trying to see the e-mini Russell and his trend/open price 08:30 (15:30 in France)
I have bought data history 1mn and I search two days : the 8th and 9th september 2004.
I think, after have seen september and october, that we can maybe take 2 points,as trader has told previously in this thread.
    570,68 566,92 568,80
The open price was 568,80 at 08:30 and we had also two points : 570,68 and 566,92
If (+-) 2 pts -> 572.68=572.70 (high at 574.20) and 564.92->564.90 (low at 565.40) so no sell vendor signal.
Of course,it's just an idea,no need to buy or sell at 01:00
If somebody had the 8th & 9th September 2004 in 1mn format,it's would be very nice.

    Thank you

Could someone post the code for this system in amibroker?
I would do it, but I'm just learning it myself.

    Thanks,
