This thread has gone off topic about 8 million times. This is one of the reasons it is rolls on with a seeming life of its own; I personally enjoy the diversion. This method works great in trends on any timeframe. For example, the geniuses on "Fast Money" suggest trades. OK go long the DIA, so I am now long DIA, where do I get out, where do I get out if I am wrong? The offset moving average gets you in and out of a trade with the MACD as a filter. Here is the OP (original posters) comment. "Thing is just about every trader I know either only uses the MA cross, or the Zero Line cross... one is trend, the other is momentum... I cant believe how many good traders dont see that almost all the trades that really move have the combination of the two. They'll go long on a MA cross to the upside when it is well below the Zero Line and wonder why it fails and has no momentum" The problem is that markets don't trend all the time or trading would easy as hell. Filters don't totally save you from chop. Not overtrading and money management helps a lot.
Jack Hersheys "suggestions" do nothing but ruin the simplicity and replace it with another one of his CUM's (complex unprofitable method)
Hi Guy's, When I referred to the "SPM Guidebook" I was referring to all 407 pages of this little read. The SPM started out simple but different traders around the world started trying it and giving their opinions and suggestions. We have traders from (England, New Zealand, France, Australia, Usa, Canada, plus all the different states). Welcome to the Jungle we have fun and games for everyone!!! snarlyjack
Hah! Okay, dress me up and call me Sally. This is a book and a half, you got that right there, Snarles.
Hi T28, I have read every single darn page in this thread, my head is still spinning, and apologies if the answer is here but I have yet to find it. Trader 28: Early on, you talk about a profit target of $200 per trade. You then mention trading several contracts at a time: " 3 to 5 depending on level of confidence . . ." So my question: Is your profit target $200 overall, or 2 points? (With 5 ticks and 4 contracts, you'd reach your profit target sometimes very quickly.) BTW, I have been successfully trading this method using the 3+2MA breakout signal for over a month now. Like many others here, I sincerely thank you for offering this method and taking the time to takes all the questions. If you ever find yourself in Portland OR, it'd be my pleasure to take you to dinner. A REAL nice dinner. =^) Prosperity to you, johngo

He is ...sleepless in Australia. Caution johngo: if you are a "he" do not bring your girlfriend or wife with you. If you are a "she" take him to dinner but not on Saturday. If you are 'it", well nobody knows the outcome. Best! mF
Greetings from the UK - a wet and windy day as ever. I have just been checking on the latest posts on the longest thread on the web and I wonder if you could assist a fellow trader please? Somewhere along the line I missed the bit about using the 3ema with +2 offset. Although I know that traders who use this are doing so profitably I have no idea how this is being traded. I understand of course the MACD cross and the zero line cross methodology. Is there any way someone could fill me in please? I'd be grateful. Thanks Sean
