  1. Isu: I use Tradestation and have been able to match Trader28's fast MA with offset. To do so: right click the MA you want to edit, select "format Mov Ave", the settings I used are attached. "Displace" is -2.

372 pages and 6 weeks later and I'm still trying to figure this out. Can't thank you enough for your patience, particularly with us slowbe newbes.

Attached is my ER2 2 minute chart. I'm using MACD (12,26,9) and SMA (3,9,2) which I thought was our SPM criteria but my indicators don't look like yours (??)

On my chart, the entry signal would have been the 8:40 MACD xover above the zero line which was supported by the 10 min MACD (also above zero). The 2 min candle didn't punch thru the SMA3+2 until 4 minutes later and 9:04 didn't show anything except an SMA3+2 touch.

    Have I dorked something up?

  5. I'm guessing here but your 3 and 9 period period simple moving averages with + (plus) 2 offset looks like you have done - (minus) instead

UPDATE: Yep I just put - (minus) 2 offset on my SMA's and they look like yours

  6. And if you can use 3 and 8 period TRIANGULAR moving averages with + 2 offset

    Ever so slightly more accurate

This is crazy! My TS displace was definitely set to +2 and I just changed it to -2 and got your chart. That's scary (make that diabolical) - could TradeStation be on to us? My SMA (3,9,-2) chart is attached. Notice my offset is shown on the top line to the right.

Wait a minute - maybe it's your offset that's backwards since it's downunder? This is mighty bizzaro.

My MACD still doesn't look quite like yours but I guess it's close enough.

    What time did you exit?

"And if you can use 3 and 8 period TRIANGULAR moving averages with + 2 offset"

Here it is with SMA (3,9,-2) and MA Triangular (3,8,-2) overlaid - they are VERY close. I'll drop the SMA (3,9,-2) though and stay with the Triangular.

  10. Yep thats it... Triangular is very close but has a slightly better curve to it, certainly not enough to worry about if you don't have the Triangular option
