I think that's a crucial point. Having now looked into the SPM a bit, it seems the method provides context and possible entry points for **discretionary** traders. It's **not** a complete system to be traded mechanically.
es175, I find your explanation of the MACD cross overs interesting: "- Go long/short on a breach of the MACD zero line or MACD EMA, whicever is higher/lower" Basically, if I understand you correctly, you use the MACD signal line crossing zero and the MACD signal line crossing its EMA to confirm each other. You enter the trade only when the second of those two events occurs. Seems to me this warrants some more extensive backtesting to see if too many trades get entered too late. Maybe compare against entering on the first crossover whenever the second crossover "seems imminent" (hence the discretionary aspect of this everyone's been alluding to).
Not convinced that suggestion will make a significant difference to the results of trading the signals by themselves. Eyeball the charts and see what you think. The reason I took the 'confirmed' MACD crossover approach was pretty straightforward. If you look at the beginning of the thread, I think T28 mentioned something along the lines of a good trade having both direction (MA crossover) and momentum (zeroline crossover). I agree with that. On that note, it's the 3TMA +2 re-entry technique that, for me, has been the most useful idea in this thread. Cheers T28...

Ques: On the MACD oscillator, the fast line is the ema and slow line is the MACD line, right? I've heard this expressed ema crosses macd and macd crosses ema and price crosses sma and sma crossovers and zero lines crosses... I hope everybodies got this straight. I think I get the point that if the macd ema crosses the macd then crosses the zero line that that's a pretty good signal right? OK I'm boring you when I mean to be entertaining, afterall I'm on my third cocktail this evening. es175 has posted several conesecutive days of very clear ER2 charts. Take a look at the signals starting at 11:00 Jan 18th. A whole bunch of upsignals with the macd above the zero line and the prices are going down! Really weird. Can you say divergence? There is no zero line on this chart but if the center of the chart is a zero line this is a crazy divergence. This most profitable system I know of is fading my trades. Its DOM, depth of market, its basically the ability to read the tape at the tick level. SCT is seamless continous trading per Jack Hershey, being in all the time.
