Right. 1. I guess the first question is : Did I understand correctly what Jack wanted to show with his post, or was this a shoe-in for the SCT (which would of course be out of the scope of this thread). 2. If I did understand correctly- meaning that Jack wanted to show a simple method- NOT the SCT- which uses a crossover and filters it and arrives at profitable trades, then I want to know EXACTLY what the signals, filters etc. are.... to have a vague understanding just would not do.... my main interest lies in filters in this case.
I just re-read iceberg trading doc, look like you are correct. the day if option friday, when vol. is low signal will not work, still we want to be long in 80+ zone and short in 20 or less zone, the question is how to enter earlier than waiting around until stoc(14) hit 80, the early entry is stoc(5) hit 50%, there are 2 exits; early exit stoc(5) cross back 50% or stoc(14) cross back under 80 line. I think none option exp week will work better.
Trader28 freely gave away the ingredients of an edge. Once you have a genuine edge, stop messing with it. Stop trying to improve it. Instead of continual tinkering with an already profitable edge, the focus should be turned on yourself, the trader. Specifically, the focus should be on your attitude towards how you apply said edge over a series of trades. Ultimately that is what matters most in the quest of consistent profitability.
Vienna, Way to go, I understand exactly what your talking about!!! Ok, we have narrowed our preferred indicator to the Stochastic 5-2-3. (That is great news!!!). The next question is...Should we set our sell (liquidate), our position on the stoch 5-2-3 cross. Or our sell at the cross of the 50% line? Which is different! I have also found that by tightening up the (kwikpop indicator) to SMA 2 + shift 2. And EMA1 crossover with the SMA2 +2 seems to be hitting it perfectly. By using these three indicators this little "SMP" might just sizzle beyond our wildest dreams!!! Vienna, if you could test the sell/liquidate setting that would be awesome. My guess is, it will be the cross of the Stoch. Thanks snarlyjack
Snarly, happy to look into this, but specifically I was not looking for a crossover system... I wanted to understand what exactly Jack was seeing, and perhaps learn something from it, under the focus of seeing what filters he recommends and how they work. My hope is that he reappears and comments....
Vienna, When I really started studying Trader28 system and talking to him, the Kwikpop indicator is a large part of his system. Trader28 trades the ER not the YM (different settings). I started playing with the "kwikpop indicators" which is what Trader28 system (early buy/sell ) is all about. The Sma2 + 2horizontal shift is a awesome indicator that tracks the price movement very nicely. It is a smoothing predicting indicator (you can kinda see into the future). I changed from Omnitrader software to E-signal software because of this 1 indicator (it's that good). By combining the SMA2 + 2 shift plus the Stoch 5-2-3, I really think were going to end up with a spectacular system that will wow everyone... Thanks for all your help!!! snarlyjack
Vienna, Check out my chart. A sample of Friday's, YM, movement. I use: 1). EMA1 to see where actual prices on the bars is. 2). Sma2 +2 horizontal shift. 3). Stoch 5-2-3. Pretty simple, pretty clean, pretty accurate. Let me know what you think? snarlyjack
That's what we were working on... Buy: 1). The cross of the EMA1 and SMA2 +2s and 2). The cross of the Stoch 5-2-3, 50% line. Sell: 1). Cross of the 1EMA and SMA2 + 2s and 2). Cross of the Stoch 5-2-3. (not the 50% line) were still determining the exact stoch sell point. snarlyjacl
