Find out for yourself. Do some spread charts on ES and YM all the way down to the tick level. If there is a consistent lead it should show up. Anyone with Ensign can do this and I think Esignal and some others and probably Tradestation. All the talent we have on here it should be a simple matter to find out. Of cpurse the lead may only be intratick in which case it wouldnt show up.
snarly - just a suggestion here... I notice your using eSignal as your data-feed. It's an excellent data provider I have used for many years. For this trendlines predicting the future exercise (blank right side of the chart stuff), you should give serious consideration to using Ensign Windows charting software. It is extraordinarily powerful, reasonable cost, and works very well with eSignal. Also, if fixed costs are a concern, then if you use IB as your broker, you can drop eSignal and Ensign will work directly from the IB feed. I am not sure if Ensign has the capability to hold the X-axis in place as Jack prefers, ie. to turn off autoscrolling. Perhaps someone here knows that answer ? anyways, best of luck in your training and trading disclaimer: I have no direct association with Ensign Windows.
These relationships tend to drift around over time. For a long time the small-cap index was the leader, then more recently money flow shifted away from small-cap and into large-cap dividend stocks and the relationship shifted in favor of the Dow. I suggest you also look into the cash Dow as a leading or confirming indicator. So yeah, today Jack is right about Dow leadership. One day, perhaps soon, that relationship will once again shift.
I found no lead on the short term timeframes. Cash Dow is leading the market higher no doubt but how do you take advantage of this on a five minute chart as Jack suggests. Try buying the ES when YM jumps out ahead a couple of ticks or vice versa and see what happens. About half the time it will go against you. There are highly trained quants out there searching for the tiniest of inefficiencies. How could they not notice this if it existed?
The last thing, this morning, that I spoke with Liz about was adding three staff members to our foundation and where the remote site would be and when to trigger it. We also discussed her conversations, in person on Thurdsay early evening, with new member of the armed services committee member. We also decided to not purchase a sculpture of a buffalo as a consequence of an incoming phone call from Idaho where there were possibilites of property storm damage. When any person embarks on a new venture, it is important to consider the sum total of that person's prior existance. Where a person is in the infinite scheme of things determines how he is going to handle what is on the table. You are in reaction to my comments in something written and that you are beginning to read. Everyone here who is posting is in reaction to information that they are considering and most of the commentary involves my comments. In what you read, I make the point, right off, to consider a topic. I see that you do not "get it"; further you find it necessary to type a lot of words. My suggestion to everyone who is following this, is to give consideration to what I am providing as help for people to learn to make money. If possible, forgo giving consideration to other things that pop into your minds. and just chlk them up as myths that you have encounteredbefore this point in time. These things that people post are mostly mythsand all of themn do not help a person to make money. No one here within this thread is making money. Everyone has a choice to begin to make money. You can choose any method you wish and go to work to learn and then make oney from what you learned. How this process unfolds for each person depends upon where he is in the infinite schemeof things. That is just how it is. You can see that many of the posters have decided to not make money and they have also decided to give me "what for" at every turn where they spend their time posting on not making money. The myths that people have acquired are most often "stoppers" for them. These myths they use to make what they think is "RIGHT" just serve to build a wall continually that keeps them SAFE and far away from making money. I have found that individuals make money with the money that they have available to make money. This is micro money. So you can throw in the river all macro stuff that forms the myths you think are true for making money. You are a pebble that drops in a pool of water. What is forming the rings around you is what is important. Who you are and how you got that way determines everything for your future. If what I have written inflames you, then what you are and how you got there is even more important. I write to communicate by going to where people are and I work to move them towards achievable goals and in ways to behave to make money. I paint pictures often. Snarl will not ge the pictures he tells me over and over. So I agree that he is not a person who can chose to make money. 28lite will not chose to make money. So I agree that he is not a person who can chose to make money. Bearbelly has been on record for quite a while that he is chosing to not make money and further he is going to tell everyone how he is spending his time not making money. I agree bearbelly is not going to make money. Here I am posting in a place that has lots of references on making money and how to make money and this post explains that I understand that not making money and instead doing myths is where people love to stay and be safe. On gotomeeting conferencing on Sunday nite at 10pmEST I will be in conversation with a group of persons to deal with taking ES trading to a 50 contract level where making money is stepping out from "making margin daily". They are underway, have dumped the myths and moving in a direction that is swift and productive and means that they fly in here when they want and they plan to continue getting the job done at excellent levels all their lives. Here in this thread it is different. A couple of weeks ago the subject could have been doing drills on charts to get acquainted with leaving the past behind. It is impossible for most people to take the first step to begin. So all I get to talk about here is if and when a person will chose to consider beginning. It hasn't happened yet. That is a great subject for a thread too. Not having a computer and not having software and not having an instrument to trade is a pain in the tail for some people. Others can accomoate all these things and continue to build a wall to keep them away from making money.
Jack I have no problem with most of what you say because there is nothing new about it and it is common sense. Channels, trendlines, volume increasing on trend and decreasing on retrace, etc.Swing his and los (ftts) et al have been around forever. You seem to have come up with a pretty good way to trade stocks and deserve credit for that BUT when you try to tell me that you are coming into ES on bar four and then are in the market continually reversing at every turn 20-40 times a day with multiple contracts and making multiples of the daily range every day like it is nothing then I have to object. I do not believe it. You have posted executions of "students" so we know you know how to post executions but you will not post one of your own own showing these 20-40 actions and until you do I will continue to believe it is BS. I donât see any of your groupies jumping here and saying that they have seen you do this either. I would believe Spyder if he says he has seen you do this. The times that I am aware that people were tracking you intraday you didnât come close to doing this kind of action.
I think you have made a very thoughtful (it covers your bases and priorities) and well thought out choice (stay entrenched where you have gotten to) for yourself. Your gravestone effort was exceptional as well. I'm glad you took the trouble to help others see where you are; my hope is that it will help others like you come to the same conclusions and save them some time in their evaluation not to continue to relate to any of this stuff. Most of your intended witticisms are a contribution to those who also value not making money using any of this stuff. Your personal jibes at me are just part of your character and not mine. Hits are hits for ET to keep it rolling along. Personally, I think this winnowing you contribute to will make it possible for 2007 to be a great year for those who are forging ahead past the beginner level of SCT. Your post and my followup make a very good last page in any evaluation for coming to the end of considering PVT and SCT.
