Yup, you don't know what you're talking about... Typical of union to measure their pay packages against the company's CEO, and I don't disagree that C levels are often far overpaid for their work. But regardless of the economy or health of the company, unions will reject employment flexibility as a matter of principle and only approve benefits reductions when faced with the risk of going out of business. I've seen unions refuse to compromise on the use of paper and pencil because computers would threaten their job security... Fact!
"Typical of union to measure....." Did you read my whole post or only the parts that fit your the narrative in your small mind? "No union for me." Reminder again it is 2023, not 1973. Still think the defense dept is buying $1000 toilet seats too, huh? Similar thinking goes on in the Musk mind, moves from Cali for Texas to get away from regs, taxes yada yada. Cali still out manufactures every other Tesla plant worldwide. Can't wait till he has to deal with unions there. Its coming, just like discounts, rebates, low interest rate financing. New paradigms same as the old paradigms.
Yes, definitely, the Defense dept. is still buying $1000 toilet seats. You would definitely be naive if you thought otherwise. The day Tesla goes union is the day I sell my shares. I've seen the destruction caused by them, preventing management from making decisions until it benefits their membership and is approved by them in the next quarterly labor-management meeting... Unions are an innovations and efficiency killer, everything that Tesla is not. Before I get the right wing rooting for me, I want to make it clear that I'm not anti regulations. Simply, I believe that government passed labor laws ought to be enforced and detailed enough to encompass labor protections. Unions are nothing more than a mafia giving labor votes to whichever party will support their hold on labor intensive businesses. It's been Dems for many decades but I've encountered plenty of union labor voting Trump at the last election, because white labor despises non whites "taking their jobs from them".
VicBee, lol. https://www.epi.org/publication/who-are-todays-union-workers/ Altogether, about two-thirds of working people ages 16+ who are covered by a union contract are women and/or people of color.
And why do you think that is the case? Why can even family run businesses all the way to mega corporations in Germany afford such training and investments in their workers?
What damn innovation are you always talking about in connection with Tesla? A lithium battery and battery powered motors? Seriously? What the fuck are you talking about? How many light years was Mercedes and others behind Tesla in the Ev market? Now they released true LEVEL 3 autonomous driving EVs. Where is Tesla? Still fixing burning batteries and other basic shit. Get real for a moment. Elon found out that he can paint a pig golden and charge 65k to millennials and gen Z. That's all his recipe for success is about.
I get that unions aren't all blue collar manufacturing or transportation and utilities. Those sectors are primarily white labor, particularly in white dominant regions of the country. It took mighty efforts and government intervention to force unions to desegregate, like in police or fireman unions that were essentially white (Italian and Irish) in multiracial cities and regions. Per your article, 1 out of 10 employee is unionized, and half are in the public sector...that's government which, I assume, includes education and public healthcare. Let's not forget our favorite sample of union labor at work...the DMV. So yes, that's where women and non whites are primarily hired. But the reality is the brunt of highly paid blue collar union labor is manufacturing, transportation (air, rail, truck, longshore, wharehouse), utilities,.. in sum, mostly men and white based on national demographics. Thanks to the unions, most of these jobs are highly paid (significantly higher than average US income of $64k/year) which puts them at true middle class income of let's say $100k+/year. Their alternative to union work is an instant reduction of 50% or more of their pay package (healthcare, retirement, etc.). No wonder there's a major social schism when non white male and female try to get in those union jobs. The link to Trump and other right wing fringes is strong. While those sectors are private, they are deeply linked with government, as most of these enterprises have an impact on the functioning of the country and thus represent a potential national security interest. In effect the government has no interest challenging unions because they can easily challenge government. What is most infuriating though is that We, the Non Union People are on the hook paying high taxes and services to subsidize that labor's high pay packages. For example, why are the US infrastructures falling apart? Because their maintenance cost is exorbitant. Why can't Ford and GM make cars anymore? Because labor costs make them uncompetitive and unions are against efficiencies to reduce their ranks.
So much digital diahrea Ford and GM aren't making cars anymore ....because no one, relatively speaking, wants them. Still in nonsense 1973 mindset. Hahaha Can anyone else tell Vic misses being out of the country a loooooooot. Visa or U.S. tax related stuff huh?
