I see, you don't come from that world, do you? I worked on the management side in a heavily unionized industry between 2009 and 2019 (not the 60s). I know what I'm talking about...

Weird how unionized German and Chinese EVs are the ones innovating the most...odd how unionized Japanese automakers have been giving American comps trouble for decades for being at the vanguard.

Tall/fat Americans don't want Sedans and like their pickups and cuvs/suvs.

German workers are better than American workers. They have apprenticeships and training.

Japanese workers are better due to their work ethic and culture regarding workmanship.

Unionized Chinese? Communist China can teach America thing or two about capitalism...
German labor unions in the automotive sector are arguably the world's most powerful. But the integration of politicians, white collar management and union labor in Germany is uncommon; only Japan or Korea are as integrated as far as I know. Corporatism is a modern model of fascism without authoritarianism.

I'd be ready to bet that of its 3 similar factories (China, Germany, Austin, TX) the Chinese will always be more productive, the German will always suffer the most work stoppages, and Austin will always be the least productive.

No union for me. Have many friends retired or close to it ... who worked hard for what they got.

Corporations only pay workers what workers can get out of them. CEO's and the rest of the C Suite act as if they own the company. Its a rigged game giving them 90 something % of the earnings when things are humming and 0% of the losses when they ain't.
