  2. I don't understand why people get so upset over oil yet remain silent on healthcare costs. I spend about $12k a year for what amounts to lousy health insurance and about $3K for gasoline.

I write lots of emails to my Senators and reps about the scary direction of health insurance, but not many about gasoline.

  3. Its important to note these facts too:
    • China and India were coming online during the Clinton Administration too, and the net world demand for Oil and Petroleum products was at and slightly less (not significantly) than during the Bush / Oil Administration
    • within the US, all Petroleum news has been spun (controlled for negative market impact) toward the worse case scenario with the objective of price support through speculation and fear
    • within the US, the notion that we are paying less than other countries and world prices has been proffered as an explanation to accept this horrendous price gouging that continues...
    • within the US, the expectation that the populace would and can not do anything about these 120% increases in oil products, and in particular, gasoline at the pump / prices has been encouraged

    conspiracy?

    reality?

    necessary?

each of us answers these questions by our actions...

WASHINGTON - Drivers found no relief at the pump over the last week as the retail price for gasoline soared 9.5 cents to $2.68 a gallon, the highest level since mid-October, the government said Monday.

The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline was up 32 cents in the last month and 40 cents from a year ago, based on the federal Energy Information Administration’s weekly survey of service stations.

Pump prices are expected to go higher when gasoline demand peaks this summer. The EIA on Tuesday releases its annual forecast for summer gasoline prices and fuel demand.

  5. Oh boy Iran has enriched uranium, lets drive up the price of oil. Come on George, lets drop a nuke and run the price of oil up to triple digits. When you elect special interests, they will profit at your expense.

  7. If you want a low cost way to dramatically and quickly lower oil and gasoline prices...

    The answer is very simple...

Eliminate the Bush Cheney fiasco...get them out of office...

    ...............................................................................................

Bush Cheney is synonymous with OIL BASED WAR POLICIES which are responsible for establishing the War Premium in oil prices....

Secondly Bush Cheney are PRO OIL and only pay lip service to alternative energy...

The serious oil players whose economies depend on oil sales would send prices spiraling down to protect their interests...if they firmly believed that the US was truly serious about alternative energy ....

    ...............................................................................

Get rid of Bush Cheney...OIL WILL DROP $30.......

  9. just to keep things in the forefront and current,

    all day today, on CNBC,

they were interviewing industry professionals, and were asking them to justify the pricing that has been put upon the American people,

and all the talk of $4 gasoline by summer's end due to Ethanol / MBTE change overs....

    sounds suspect, hmmmmm

  10. so libertad says that the Bush presidency was engineered by the board of Halliburton in an effort to raise the price of oil.

limitdown says the whole idea of high oil prices is "wrong" therefore we need to do something about it at the congressional level.

you know... it's costing me an extra $100/month. It's annoying, but it's not really that big a deal to me. Housing has doubled recently too. Last year a median priced POS house cost $1000/month, this year it's $2000. If we're going to be changing laws, can we go after the greedy real estate developers, flippers, and credit companies first?
