  1. If they were white, they wouldn't have been taken from the jail, beaten with sledgehammers and then hanged.

  2. True... but we need to get rid of the false historical mindset that these famous lynching pictures were the result of their skin color. Often times it was the result of a violent crime, as this incident was.

  3. Just exactly who's job do you think it is to keep the population safe from the spread of disease and pestilence in this country? Or do you not consider that a part of healthcare?

Aside from that, our government ALREADY provides it's citizens with a form of socialized care: Medicare and Medicaid.

Bronchial Thermoplasty: a new way to manage asthma pioneered by a hospital in (gasp) Ontario, Canada; a socialized healthcare nation. There went your theory down the toilet.

  5. So, to sum up your "down the toilet" reference--
in the words of Elizabeth H. Bel, M.D., Ph.D., of Leiden University Medical Center in The Netherlands, wrote:
"Whether bronchial thermoplasty will earn a place in the treatment of asthma remains to be determined," Dr. Bel noted.

I believe a turd is still swirling in your position.

No, it was the result of their skin color. They were accused of a violent crime and dragged from their jail cells and murdered by the mob and the police before they had a trial.

That anyone would attempt to defend such an atrocity truly boggles the mind.

  8. I'm not defending the atrocity. Are you defending the killing of a white person and the rape of a girl? THAT'S why they were lynched. Cause and effect. Had they not been racists, murderers and rapists, they wouldn't have been killed.

  9. "Is this the most important issue?"

Since when is the Senate required to take up issues in order of importance? And who decides that importance? The gay marriage issue is probably the number one priority for the evangelicals, without whom John F. Kerry would be President.

This is clearly a ploy to avoid arguing the merits of the individual issues, each of which commands wide public acceptance. So if you are opposed, you argue that they are not "important."

  10. Five paragraphs written by Dr. Bel on the subject that praises this new procedure and you want to pull out one sentence, without even completing the statement, in order to try to keep your "turd" afloat; typical. Oh do please allow me to post the rest of that statement for you:

"However, this study shows the potential for a completely new approach of treating asthma and stimulates the development of new hypotheses. For patients with refractory asthma, bronchial thermoplasty might become a real breakthrough, particularly for those with severe airway hyperresponsiveness."

My original reply to you was in response to your statement that "All government does is sh!t down the quality level of EVERYTHING it controls"; which would suggest that quality and the drive for improvements to quality are absent when government control is involved. The example that I gave above is just one of many that proves that quality and the pursuit to improve quality is still very much alive and well even within socialized programs. As a matter of fact, a Harvard Medical School study, published just yesterday, further debunks this theory of yours:

    http://www.cha.harvard.edu/news/press_releases_06/060525_cross_national_health_survey.shtml
"The study finds that U.S. residents are less healthy than Canadians, and despite spending nearly twice as much per capita for health care, U.S. residents have more problems getting care and experience more unmet health needs.........

.......The authors found that U.S. residents were less healthy than Canadians, with higher rates of nearly every serious chronic disease examined in the survey, including diabetes, arthritis, and chronic lung disease...........

.......Canadians had better access to most types of medical care (with the single exception of pap smears). Canadians were 7% more likely to have a regular doctor and 19% less likely to have an unmet health need......"

So according to your theory, the quality of the US military, law enforcement agencies, space program, and national research laboratories must be total shit. That's not far removed from the same type of hysteria that drives a mob to think it has the right to lynch 2 men before they have had their day in court.
