Sierra Chart Users? If you don't use Teton, how do you feel about 38% price rise?

Yep, I've been around since version 29 and it may be time to move on.

Glad I ditched Sierra Chart years ago.... They are arrogant and their platform UI is very complex. I ended up with Motivewave + Rithmic + AMP Futures and I am relatively happy with that.

I am quite happy with Sierra and have used them for maybe 15 years or so. Don't remember exactly. I agree the support is bad but I did have one of the engineers give me some personal support a couple years back. My question is if not Sierra then whom? My trading is fully automated and I'm just not interested in learning coding beyond the simple stuff needed to use the Sierra Automated Trading study.

  4. Reading through Sierra's Support Board, it seems they say "Denali data feed included in Package 10 for $36/mo", and other places it seems to indicate, "Denali data feed is additional cost beyond the $36/month service fee".... one reference says "20-$25/mo for data feed". ??

    Anybody know which is correct

I'm using SC Package 10 and Denali is included for $36/month. Exchange fees are extra.

  9. I checked out Quantower at AMP this weekend. (My concerns are mostly limited to charts and DOM trading.... didn't check out other functions.)

Quantower seems like it would be OK.. no functional drawbacks... but I like Sierra Chart better... for "how it operates".

    1. Quantower says, "W10 or better, 16GB RAM system requirement". I still run one machine on W7, 4GB RAM... and it runs SC just fine.

2, Quantower user can install on 2 machines (receiving data on only one at a time unless paying additional fee). SC allows me to install on 3 machines (which I do)... though still receiving data on only one at a time.. unless I want to license for more.

    3. As for "ease and convenience of use"... the "control/tool" bar of Sierra Chart is top notch... more flexible and "user friendly" than others. That's a big deal when you're accessing it multi-times per day. (I've used/tested half-dozen or so trading software packages... and I find Sierra Chart's control/tool bar to be the best I've seen... even better than Meta Stock. Of course that doesn't impact trading results, but it's a "thing" to consider for "operational ease of use".)

  10. Sierra will often recommend high specs on their forum too, so don't go taking a vendors word for it. It will depend on your charting complexity and data load demands.

In Sierra I have never ever used the control bar or the tool bar. In fact, I have deliberately removed the entire tool bar to gain more charting real-estate. I use keyboard short cuts extensively. I am curious what you use these for?

    With kind regards,
