  1. I thought it was that but did not want to attempt the spelling of that. You know how those hippies get all sensitive when you put a cramp in there style. Or whatever you want to call it.

Shit...pot isn't a drug. Like drinking that gives you cancer instead of cirrhosis...that's all

  4. You cannot say that that isn not the starter drug. If you do that you are lying to yourself.

Hmm....that was a very large can of worms for me to open?
I actually think antibiotics and Tylenol are the real starter drugs, but what do I know? I am just a silly old hippie :)

  6. Hey now you are an evolved hippie and plus the hailess body sounds nice.

I truthfully believe that it all starts with pot.

Have a good weekend and no hard feelings.

I have to side with Cathy on this one, though not with regard to Tylenol specifically.

The drug industry came into its own in the forties and fifties, and antibiotics came to be known as "miracle" drugs. What really caught the public's fancy, though, were "mood" drugs, i.e., drugs that made you feel better but had nothing to do with serious disease. Miltown is a good example (the original Valium).

It didn't take long for the public to come to believe that pills could cure anything. Women abandoned the traditional methods of treating illness such as herbal remedies and mustard plasters and so on and instead began buying anything that came in a tablet or capsule and handing it out to their kids. The message, of course, was and is that if you don't feel right, take a pill. Cherry-flavored.

I suspect that if cod liver oil were still commonly used, we wouldn't have the drug problem we do.

Obvious a post by a very well informed person.

I never was in an orgy, nor did I ever know of anyone actually being in one. However I have read about Plato's Retreat.....a place populated by a much later generation. Probably that of DBPhoenix and compisnada2002.

When I was in college, I never dated a woman who smelled. I don't think I knew any. I shaved and showered every day as did everyone I knew.

The only "new" drug that I knew of that was commonly used as never before was Ortho Novum.

Men had longer hair. Clothing styles were different. Lot's of things were different, but there were moral people and immoral people then, just as now. To stereotype a whole generation is laughable.

Having read the posts of these kids that seem to disrespect the "worst generation" I noticed another difference. We somehow learned how to spell, and how to construct sentences. We must have been the beneficiaries of a far better educational system. Or more likely, we just paid more attention in school. Maybe we were interested in learning, and weren't consumed with just making money.

As for our parenting skills: I have a 22 year old stepson who is graduating college in two months. He will be working in the operations of a major sports franchise (New York Mets), after earning his way in by being an intern during his summer vacations. Both he and his sister, who is a sophomore at Northwestern University were both National Honor Society members. She has been interning for ESPN magazine and has a very bright future to look forward to in journalism.

My son is entering the Nuclear Propulsion School (United States Navy) and will be a naval officer. Proudly serving his country.

None of them have ever touched drugs. Yet their parents had long hair and marched on Washington for the Moratorium on the War in 1969. And smoked pot. And even tried LSD. Different times. And we were brought up by the "Greatest Generation".

How did this ever happen? How did we raise kids that turned out better than we did as far as we are concerned? (Though my wife graduated from college Summa Cum Laude, and then in the top 5% of her class at law school....and I have been successful in starting and growing three different businesses, and provided for my family quite well).

Maybe there is one good lesson to be learned here. DON'T TALK ABOUT THINGS YOU HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF!!!

And now having expressed MY opinion, which can be argued against, (and I am sure it will be, because we are all entitled to our opinions), I CAN say one thing with absolute certainty.

OUR MUSIC WAS MUCH BETTER!!!!:D :D

Guess the way for more than whatever your conception of a "few" is, would to be to expand government, and make more room for more people to work through the "legislatures and though the courts".

And yeah, we all just stayed "stoned". What is your problem? Why the resentment? Why the anger? (Why the jealousy?)

Did people go into real estate? Yeah some did. Must have been because it was a brand new industry:confused:

You sit and post your bullshit on the computer you take for granted. A device developed by the "worst generation".

AND OUR MUSIC IS STILL BETTER!!

    Peace,
    :)Rs7
