Can I ask you a few honest questions? Why is it now that masks are a thing? Why weren't they a thing during other high flu seasons?

I have no problem with wearing a mask. I have no issues with people who think we should wear masks. I have no issues with using hand sanitizer.

Why do many European countries believe that wearing a mask doesn't offer much in the way of protection?

No. Its only a thing for you and others who wish to destroy the economy. I've returned to my normal routine. You support one of the dumbest actions taken in human history. The stupid meter is pegged and that ends my participation.

I understand. But my questions are to you. Do you not want to answer them?

How does wearing a mask destroy the economy? You do everything you have been doing, but wear the mask WHEN YOU CANNOT MAINTAIN 6 FEET OF DISTANCING!

Mandating masks is intended to suppress retail stores, bars, restaurants and other business that have just reopened. It works well actually. Who wants to go somewhere if they have to wear a mask?

I don't think you understood my OP. In this state, staring tomorrow, mask are mandated in public indoors for everyone. It isn't allowable to simply augment with a mask when distancing is perhaps not sufficient. You have to wear one here. The police have indicated that they are "ready to enforce".

The reopening schedule here is being shelved. There is no intent to open the schools in the fall. No doubt you folks will insist on cancelling debates, lol. Dems will scream for addition trillions of dollars to be flushed.

I'm done with it all. Starting tomorrow my intention is to simply ignore the subject. The upside is that you won't have to read my objectionable posts on the subject. Gotta see the glass half-full.

    Ahhh.

"Why is it now that masks are a thing? Why weren't they a thing during other high flu seasons?"

This isn't an Influenza virus. And what I mean by a "thing" is, why are masks NOW being made out to be bad by so many? I don't recall any reports of masks being bad last month or the month before that, or the month before that.

"Why do many European countries believe that wearing a mask doesn't offer much in the way of protection?"

I do not know what EU countries believe. If that is true, that they do not believe masks offer protection, well, each country in Europe probably had protocols in place differing from the US, and were probably more restrictive on movement. Maybe they reached their herd immunity, so now they don't believe in the masks?

We are far from that level here yet, so people should just do the basics.

Here in MA, we've had to wear masks going out in public (not just indoors, but anywhere outdoors where you cannot social distance) since, ohh, early April? We're getting along fine here.

    I could live with that.

Wear the mask around the neck, if someone is close in the grocery aisle I pull it up. When I'm going through the checkout I pull it up. That was working.

But the Governor is mandating mask usage for all starting tomorrow. There is no discretion to exercise, just the extra-legal mandate of a extreme leftist Governor who wants to do her part to harm the economy and by extension harm President Trump.

There is no point to further compliance with reasonable requirements. Now people will be forced. Give the government an inch and they take mile.
