You ever wonder why a forum about trading allows those racist threads or racist messages to remain on site ?

I thought about that some years back when we had a Pedophile thread (child pornography) and it remained for several days with some really gross images...taken down after someone threaten to expose the Elitetrader.com on social media.

Seriously, there were dozens of complaints...nothing happen. Yet, as soon as someone threaten to go to social media...the thread was deleted and the member banned. Someone that had been banned in prior and figure out a way to flood the forum with the child pornography images.

I can't remember why it took so long but I do remember some members using the "complaint" or "report" button on the very first child porn message post...nothing happen and it took a few days.
    • Possibility Baron was contacting law enforcement and they were tracking the poster.
Wouldn't surprise me if some of these racist threads are by the same person or group of individuals that did the Child Pornography threads.

The response to Corky/Derek strongly suggests that the poster is a colleague or friend of the site owner. The poster(s) in question feels far too comfortable posting the stuff, and it's getting worse ( see the "subhuman" reference in one recent post ).

I always assumed that a traders website was for things concerning trading. Especially if you want to be an ELITE traders website.
There are a lot of threads that have nothing to do at all with trading. To me a lot of garbage.

I think it's a strategic decision. Spooking minorities w/less disposable (aka trading income) vs keeping MAGA types happy by letting them run rampant w/their racism. Sadly I think catering to the cultists who only see "best economy, stocks only go up" is likely the winning strategy.

The guys who post in Poltics have very little to say about trading.

Allowing the racism adds more net users to the site.

    ...he says from his trailer.

Fact check, you twat: the vast majority of ET members are from North America, Europe and other developed regions, not "third world countries" as you so ignorantly put it.

    Monet,

    Confusing post by you...

Did you change smallfil's post to make it look like he said something else or did Baron edit your words to something else to make it look like you changed the words ???

The below is smallfil's original message post that still sits there...

Changing someone's words and then quoting it to make it look like they said it...I thought that was against forum rules. Yet, a lot of that (quoting and then changing what someone said) has been occurring in the Political threads. Its often enough that I'm really not sure whom is saying what with all that anger / attacks occurring there.

Thus, it seems like changing what someone said and make it look like they said something else in the Political threads is now allowed considering there's no moderating occurring there.

Not a big deal but I do remember Baron or a moderator saying once that its not only against the rules...its not tolerated and members will be banned for doing such.

By the way, people that use that old (outdated) phrase...Third World are not up to date which what that term really means. People fixated on it so much...they allow the real danger (e.g. contagious infection) to enter their country from other countries that are not a developing country.

I doubt very seriously if Corky/Derek has any association with ET. The obvious answer he/she is just another paid troll. Which is the problem with the P&R section today.

As mentioned in earlier posts, confining all political discussion (being nice there) into the basement keeps the actual trading threads clean.

Corky/Derek is no worse than some of the liberal posters. exGOPer is notorious for posting filth. A couple of other posters contribute nothing, nothing except personal attacks. I guess it depends on your political persuasion as to what’s tolerated?

There was a time several years ago, the P&R section actually had some debate by traders. Today it’s been overrun by political operatives on both sides of the aisle, plus a few foreign interests I’d wager.

When a poster racks up a few thousand posts in a short period of time, it’s an agenda, they’re here for a reason.

The only problem I see is that the known posters on both sides of the camp...

Although the heated threads are occurring in the Political section, some users are now posting some of their messages in the regular trading thread section or even mentioning / reference a heated argument in the regular trading thread section as a way "get back at someone" from the Political thread section...in the hopes that it will go unnoticed.
    • Essentially its a temper tantrum
I've seen this done in the Journals, Technical Analysis, Economics, Hook Up, Options, Commodity Futures, Strategy Building thread sections in which a poster makes a reference as a "get back at someone" for an argument in the Political thread.
    • Simply, there's an obvious spill over that's been going unnoticed for a few months
A few of these individuals are not citizens of the United States nor a resident of the United States but debating / arguing about United States Politics. Lets you know there's an agenda and makes you wonder whom is really behind it and why such is being tolerated here at trading forum.

Strangely, some of them have been members for many years and making hundreds of message posts. They know the rules of the forum and how to navigate around the rules.

I think just to wait it out until the U.S. elections has completed and then monitor to see if the heated debates continues and there's a continuation of spillover into the other threads...

To signal / identify whom to BAN and delete every one of their posts.

The latter is important because its just a Political thread...it doesn't hurt the forum to delete all their messages and ban these traders when they start to spill over their crap into the other threads in a covert way to "get back at someone".
