I totally get where you're coming from. There's plenty of blame to spread around. It is annoying to be blamed for the mistakes of probably 51% of my generation though. A lot of us opposed it all, beginning with LBJ's War on Poverty. The blame game won't solve any problems now though. Thinking you can cut seniors off from what was promised them in SS, etc is not productive and will not happen. A lot of people in your generation realize if they were somehow able to chop those programs, they would suddenly be responsible for taking care of their elderly parents. Oops. The solutions to me are pretty clear. One, stop this insane immigration policy of brirnging in vast numbers of future wlefare recipients. Two, stop spending money on foreign wars and reliving the glories of the Cold War. Three, reform entitlement programs going forward. Four, ruthlessly cut government discretionary spending. Eliminating the departments not constitutionally authorized, ie about two thirds of them, would be a good start. Your generation is not going to get any of that by stupidly voting for the likes of obama however. Maybe if you got off your phones and quit trying to blame it all on someone else, you'd realize there is more to voting than just blinfly going with the minority candidate or the person who would do best on Idol. I know that would go against all the indoctrination you've recieved your whole life, but it's your only hope.
Hear, hear!! Younger generations won't own up to it... but they voted for the guy who has done HUGE damage to the country and their very own future. Y'all voted for the wrong guy for the wrong reasons. He FUCKED YOU OVER. Some of the blame is on YOU... the X, Y, and Millenials!!
Your topics tend to be silly and often boring. So we need to move them to where we find the entertainment (usually, but not always, at your expense).
I don't think achilles rant was off topic at all. The clear implication of obamacare is that there will be health care rationing for the elderly, ie death panels, just as Sarah Palin predicted. The elites can't just come right out and say, we need old people to die more quickly. So they try to sugarcoat it in terms of sparing them needless treatment, etc. Psychos like Ezekiel Emmanuel are off message because they are too blunt, subtlety not being a family trait apparently. But once you establish the principle that rationing oif care is appropriate, that's where you will inevitably end up. Obama or the Nurse Rachit's he appoints are certainly not going to favor old white people over illegal immigrants, etc. And it's not like we don't have the example of the UK and every other socialized system to warn us.
Which isn't what the article was about. But, two people got it, so I guess that's good for this particular forum.
Apparently you are the one who didn't get it. The point of the article, and I'm sure there will be many more, is to get people comfortable with the idea of dying by a certain age. Like all propaganda, there is an element of truth involved, viz. beyond a certain point, medical intervention may be counterproductive. The question is who decides when that point has been reached? We know from the experience of virtually every country with socialized medicine that eventually the financial pressure of "free" care overwhelms the system and cuts have to be made. Where better to make them than on people who should be dead already if they had any sense of civic duty? Articles like this one are designed to condition people to think that is the right thing to do, and to ease whatever guilt those like achilles might have for killing their parents or forcing them to live in pain from bad knees, hips, etc. You see, they will actually be doing them a favor to deny care. Of course, exceptions will have to be made for the truly exceptional , eg obama, Pelois, Reid, Waren Buffett, et al.
It has nothing to do with self-sacrifice and death panels though these are mentioned in passing. As usual, you're allowing your preconditioning to determine what you see.
Really? Didn't you say you're in high school? I guess it's possible - depending on what the age for a work permit is in your state.
