Wow! Someone actually responded to the OP without manufacturing a rightist conspiracy plot along with its accompanying rant.

    Thank you.

In my volunteer work in schools I knew a guy who was a retired Lt. Colonel who helped kids with reading until he was 92! There are many people well past 80 who make meaningful contributions every day.

Emmanuel can make his own choices ... given his input on Odumbocare I imagine at age 75 his feeble mind will be history.

Logan's Run is a 1976 American science fiction film directed by Michael Anderson and starring Michael York, Jenny Agutter, Richard Jordan, Roscoe Lee Browne, Farrah Fawcett, and Peter Ustinov. The screenplay byDavid Zelag Goodman was based on the novel of the same name by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson. It depicts a dystopian future society in which population and the consumption of resources are managed and maintained in equilibrium by the simple expedient of killing everyone who reaches the age of thirty, preventing overpopulation. The story follows the actions of Logan 5, a "Sandman", as he runs from society's lethal demand.

The film was nominated for two Academy Awards and won a Special Academy Award for its visual effects, and won six Saturn Awards including Best Science Fiction Film.[3]

  7. Well put. 80 seems really old if you don't know any 80 year olds. I have had the privilege of being around people in their 80's and 90's who were very vigorous and enjoying life. It's not for some politician to decide when they have lived enough or who is worth treating and who is not.

    Cudos. I respect that.

I know. A small minority of boomers understand what's going on. I'm generalizing for the sake of simplicity. If most of the boomers were wise to how corrupt this system was 40 years ago, we wouldn't be in the mess we are today. That's my point.

That's why I said it serves them right. The generation most responsible for giving away our jobs and freedoms will get hosed by their own greed and indifference. The chickens home to roost, and the seniors will have nobody to blame but themselves for being such greedy, naïve schmucks.

A lot of good posts in this thread. I know ET is mostly populated with retirees now, so the viewpoints originate from that generation. I'm a guy in my mid-30's, with perhaps 40 years ahead of me (God willing). What I'm facing is a Greek-style economic collapse, with possible hyperinflation, combined with a hollowed out economy and a Government fully-bought and paid for by Corporations, who have managed to take away most of my freedoms under the false pretense of 'terrorism'. From what I gather, the elderly aren't too concerned about all this because in a short while, they 'won't be here' anymore.... So when it gets ugly soon (and it will), and the generational strife heats up over a vastly shrinking pie and who will win and who will lose because of it, consider the indifference many of us younger folk will express towards your precious entitlements getting the axe, largely stem from bequeathing a shit pile to us because you, collectively, were too stupid/cavalier/naïve/lazy and greedy to protect the economy and the Constitution.

    Sincerely,
    The Future.

  9. You're spot on about everything... except who is to blame. Not that getting the blame right would change anything.

You've got this delusion that your generation is squeaky clean and is getting screwed by previous generations. Your generation is even worse. They demand more handouts, vote in greater percentages for the pols that promise handouts, and are taking a sinking system and putting it on steroids. There is no greater generational segment of society that wants free stuff than yours. Free college, free health care, free everything. If you want to blame us for the sins of our generation, then you are going to have a lot more to answer for with regard to the sins of your generation, dude.
