Exactly , that is why you need to spend more time and resources educating people like Lukie and Arnie.
well to the topic the thread became, its quite related. to your post a little less so unless you actually use your brain. Before we did not have to worry about or rely on govt run death panels. The govt had little control over those types of life and death decision... But now, the article seemed to ht on the point that maybe people should die at 75 so they don't have to be subjected to govt death panels or age related illness. if you were really cynical... the article might have been saying you should die because you are a burden and therefore as leftists take us closer to fascism you will die. In short the article might be a set up for a Logan' run type scenario. (not that I am saying it... it is what a cynic might say.)
It seems to me those in the article believe that after 75 or 80 there is nothing left to contribute. Age gives a perspective and experience that is not easily replaced. If the brain is out of sorts then this could be understood but personally I would hope that people choose to fight on. It could be my experience with a closely knit family where even grand and great grand parents have been considered valuable. It is true that there came a time where the memory gave in and the life of those we cared about became just an empty shell, and it did take extra effort and time to keep them alive. It still was worthwhile at least in my eyes. We all have different preferences, and others might disagree. All these things we consider related to old age are eventually going to become curable ailments. If a situation comes when a person is turned into a vegetable then living on would seem pointless. However, if the mind is reasonably sound and dependency isn't too great, why not enjoy this gift of life. Who knows if there's going to be another try.
