Not looking to engage in a pissing match here. I started this thread to explore the idea of Trump stepping down and possibly finding a viable replacement for him.

It is astonishing to see otherwise intelligent people cling to the current offerings along party lines when there are exceptional alternatives who may be available.

Seriously, an 80 year old dementia patient (Or soon will be) or a guy who totally mishandled the pandemic, among other things?

I'm Canadian all I've seen is Americans electing useless guys like Bush Jr. and Trump and take a long, long time to realize it's not working out.
The problem of our electoral process is that it is easily highjacked by big money special interests through corporate lobbyists and associated political and advertising spending. US politicians and our media are loyal to those provide the majority of their wealth at the expense of voters interests. The formula for success in US politics is to be more convincing to voters than your competition that you will put voters interests ahead of all others. In other words, being a more skilled liar is the key to political success.

By the way, most US Citizens know at some level or other the preceeding is the case.

In Canada, we have our own value system and trying to garner massive personal wealth isn't our main priority. For many Americans, they are getting totally screwed by this American quest for massive riches. Canadians are enjoying real measurable improvements in our country in many areas the last 30 years.
A child raised by a single parent who uses a TV as a babysitter has adversely affected our value systems. The US has a lot of single parent households, for a long time. Look at US sitcoms, for example. Imagine a young child looking at that sort of programming for six hours or whatever per day as they grow up. Disfunctional priorities promoted and American Dream propaganda in order to keep some productive lay the foundation for a lot of future adult behavior. I have seen Canadian TV programming. It tends to be positive and community based.

I'm just going to say you like many Americans are totally lost in politics and one crisis after another and can't see there us a better way out there. Occasionally, I bring up concrete facts where there are massive holes in the American system and maybe a look at the Canadian system or elsewhere might be worth a look. But many American's still think they have the best of everything how dare you suggest we change at all. It is what it is; if things were great in the US a virus wouldn't have killed 130,000 Americans in 3 months.
I am unable to dispute your assertion except I’m probably not quite as lost you may believe. The question is what are US citizens going do about our electorial deficiencies? I am proposing competence in leadership through Ben Carson, yet I have yet to hear counter proposals or solid support why things are just fine the way they are. I suppose being set in ones ways is less mentally taxing, but systemic change and personal growth will not be forthcoming.

Perhaps the first step is recognizing there is a problem...

One of our main concerns short term is keeping Americans out of our country. We just aren't seeing enough rational response to the virus and have to protect our situation best we can.
Yes, but I am not the only one who is aware of “Special border crossing services” across a certain lake into Canada...!

  3. Hell, I have some time allocated to do a survey. There is incentive for me to do so, as there is value beyond the survey itself. Will keep you posted.

If you have a relevant question you would like to see public’s opinions on, let me know, and I’ll see if I can incorporate it.

Exactly. Many Americans don't think there are any problems in the US, that it's reality being handled optimally. Certainly, if accumulating money is your first priority, one could argue no better place to be then the US. If you prioritize things like a social safety net, personal safety, poverty levels, public schools, ethnic cohesion, then Canada is a far better place to live. Some like warmer weather but I find Toronto mild enough I grew up in a much colder climate. I actually don't like hot weather at all Vegas in August I couldn't breathe outside longer then 10 seconds.

With the advances Canada is making in diversifying it's economy and the social issues in the US, it's become an even more interesting talking point for young professionals with choices. The main drawback about Canada is lack of depth in the job market and lack of risk taking in business. It is a lot easier to start a new career in the US.

  7. Ouch. Tolerance towards those who have different beliefs is important for a leader.

Put Ben in prison for a while and let’s see what “choices” are offered to him...

Leaders should to try to put themselves in someone elses shoes to help them visualize what is going on and help them where the other person is coming from. Meeting face to face with that person is a fundamental part of effective leadership.

  8. You don’t care about several billion dollars spent on a website that could have been done for thousands? A website that did not even work properly initially? You ok with US taxpayers subsidizing German toy companies during an economic crisis, or anytime for that matter? How about government subsidies only being available to those of a certain political party? Have you ever heard the term “Kichbacks”? Please either grow a pair and and address these points or tell us how much US Federal income taxes you paid in 2019.

There are many more examples of coruption based spending, thousands of pages worth as can be seen in the annual US budget. I am open minded about the Government temporarily increasing spending during an economic crisis, but beyond that, no. It is not fair to ever increasingly tap the productivity of hard working taxpayers for the benefit of others.

Not when the alternative is a someone who will turn a budget surplus into a 1.2 trillion dollar deficit(Bush) or turn a 600 billion dollar deficit to a 4 trillion dollar deficit(Trump)

Bush increased the defense budget from 300 billion a year to 600 billion a year but your biggest gripe is a 1.7 billion dollar website:confused:

  10. It is my perception Trump has been working to make things better for working minorities, either directly through policy, or indirectly by trying to make our business climate more friendly.

There appears to be an entity actively trying to divide our communities. Based on the recent organized effort to tear down statues in several states, it seems like the Socialist faction of the Democratic Party has reached an agreement with the rest of the party concerning allocation of power post 2020. For reference, look at TV media reporting by CNN and the like and try to tell us with a straight face are no efforts at trying to divide the US.
