Should Patraeus Be Prosecuted?

  1. One day you guys might finally figure it out. We created al qaeda and we still utilize al qaeda to this day, we did in Libya and now in Syria. Those ongoing connections will be hidden at all costs so the overall middle east destabilization can continue. The story of al qaeda is this independent major threat to the west will be protected at all costs.

  2. What could Romney have possibly been told that would have convinced him to avoid the Benghazi issue at the foreign policy debate? It was the smoking gun of obama's incompetent leadership. Not only did it represent the disintegration of his much heralded Arab spring policy, but he also seemed to have abandoned two brave SEALs under fire and left them to die.

And who could have possibly delivered such a message and been believed by Romney? Certainly not David Axelrod.

What if the most admired general in the last decade, now Director of Central Intelligence, came to Romney and said the Benghazi annex was not just a CIA safe house. It was a secret rendition prison. And we had a very valuable prisoner there. One whose identity absolutely must not be compromised. Any further use of Benghazi in the campaign will inevitably lead to congressional hearings where the whole story will come out.

We will have to admit that Osama bin Ladin is alive.

  3. Write this down: Nothing anywhere near the truth will come out of this matter and it will be dropped.

  4. Lucrum

    Lucrum

That would make sense, given Obama and his sheeple abhor the truth.

  6. Alternate reality? You mean like the Obama version of reality claiming a defamatory video about Islam's prophet spurred the attack?

  7. AAA you are a smart guy but Romney as an outsider just was no more privy to classified material than either of us had at the debate.

Even if romney has clearance for information on such a level it would be highly illegal and a breach of security protocols to brief him on it , since he holds no official position or office requiring or justifying such briefing.

To put it quite simply you are barking up the wrong tree to suspect Romney had insider information.

I don't think there is any doubt that he knew something really fish market refuse was going on but that should have been obvious to the most casual follower of the news.

  8. 377OHMS

    377OHMS

This is a simple as it looks. The left has hated David Petraeus since he orchestrated the surge that saved Iraq and George Bush.

The general was so wildly popular after that that Obama was stuck with him but was seething about it.

Now they found a way to bring him down. It turns out that the emails in question did not mention the general and there were no threats contained within them. The FBI clearly informed the Whitehouse about the emails and were told to go forward and then Obama sent Clapper to the general to demand his resignation. This is all due to the surge in Iraq and the fact that it embarrassed the leftists who were trying to hang George Bush over the prosecution of the Iraq war.

    Mission Accomplished.

  9. Here's How The FBI Nailed Paula Broadwell For Harassing Jill Kelley In The Petraeus Sex Scandal

The way the FBI figured out that David Petraeus's biographer Paula Broadwell was the one harassing Tampa Bay resident and Petraeus confidante Jill Kelley is pretty cool.

It's also educational for anyone who imagines that they can maintain anonymity these days.

The identification of Paula Broadwell as the harasser, you will recall, led to the discovery of the Petraeus-Broadwell affair that has since claimed the job of the former general and CIA director, caused Broadwell to go into hiding, and opened the kimono on a bizarro world in which active military generals and FBI agents appear to devote considerable waking hours to emailing and IMing with attractive "liaisons" who host massive military parties at their houses (one. anyway).

Michael Isikoff and Bob Sullivan of NBC News explain how the FBI did it.

Broadwell and Petraeus were both trained in intelligence. The method they used to communicate with each other was one perfected by terrorists. They created an anonymous Gmail account that they both had access to. Instead of actually sending emails to each other, the sender merely saved the email as a draft, and the recipient then checked the "Draft" folder, found the email, read it, and deleted it. This method is apparently quite popular with al Qaeda and teenagers who don't want their parents to know what they're up to.

When Broadwell began to get jealous of another woman in Petraeus's life, however, she threw caution and her intelligence training to the winds.

She created new anonymous Gmail or Yahoo Mail accounts for herself. And then, while traveling around the country on a tour to promote her book about Petraeus, she used these accounts to send emails to the Tampa-based woman, Jill Kelley, telling her to "back off" Petraeus.

Some of these emails, say Isikoff and Sullivan, detailed the "comings and goings" of various military brass from MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. These details freaked out the FBI, who thought that there was a spy at MacDill or within the military. So, the FBI launched an investigation.

It took a while for the FBI to figure out Broadwell was the one sending the emails. But the process was relatively simple, and, eventually, the conclusion became inescapable.

The FBI first researched the IP addresses from which the emails were sent. Depending on which email accounts were used, this information would either have been included in the email header (Yahoo Mail and Outlook) or available via sub-poena from Google (Gmail).

Once the FBI had the IP addresses, it was able to narrow down their geographic location, homing in on a particular city or hotel.

As soon as it had the names of specific establishments, the FBI likely sub-poenaed information like hotel guest lists.

Then it cross-checked names until the name of one Paula Broadwell came up.

  10. I don't believe that is entirely accurate.

I believe that the opposing party candidate does get security briefings at some point. Obviously, not on the scale the president does, but of course this president cut most of his. He was too tired after partying with rappers all night.

Look, I don't know what happened. I'm guessing. But it does seem awfully odd to me that Romney suddenly clammed up about one of the biggest screwups in obama's term, and that Petraeus is excused right after the election.
