Please explain to me why the states with the best universities and best secondary schools tend to be liberal states. Where are Yale, Harvard, Princeton, U Penn, Dartmouth, MIT, Cal Tech, Berkeley, Cornell? The research triangle of NC--Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State--is the most liberal in the state. The most conservative parts of the state are the mountains and rural areas, where schools are comparatively poor. Red states, or Blue? All Blue. They are mostly in "liberal" New England and "liberal" California. How many outstanding institutions of higher education are in solid Red states such as Utah, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, and Kansas? Any?
I am neither ignorant nor a liar. According to Pew Research, "Liberals have the highest education level of any typology group _ 49% are college graduates and 26% have some postgraduate education." http://people-press.org/report/?pageid=945
Smilingsync we are not having the same argument. Your argument is which political affiliation has a higher IQ among very above average people. My argument is AMONG the TOTAL AVERAGE of people. Every single time you try to say liberals are smarter than conservatives you always refer to the above average liberals who are college graduates. Do you really think the majority of democratic votes come from college graduates?! I know your trying to make your party look good but lets get real if your willing too. Let me give you an anology. Your arguing that liberals are smarter than conservatives because the highest educated liberals are more educated and have a higher IQ than the highest educated conservatives or that there is a larger majority of higher educated liberals than conservatives. That is like me saying that the Russian military is vastly superior to the American military because around 5% of the russians have guns that are more accurate and more powerful. What I am saying is that your only addressing 5% of the importance within the issue and your neglecting around 95% of the importance of the issue. The importance of the issue is the AVERAGE IQ of a liberal and conservative. What I am saying here is that you cannot make a huge generalization of averageness when you are only taking into account a small percentage of the total liberal affiliation. As i said before it is nice that your trying to make your party look good but in order to really analyze this issue any further but we would have to seep into the details of political affiliation, education history and overall income in order to fully understand which one is the winner of this argument. I invite you for further analysis if your willing.
My mistake. Are you willing to address the other 99% of my post or were you just so disturbed by my mistaken political affiliation assumption of you? (and i totally understand why)
What is the "average voter"? Consider this from Gallup: http://www.gallup.com/poll/108046/Candidate-Support-Education-Among-Whites.aspx McCain is more popular with those having only a high school diploma (or less), whereas Obama is more popular with those who have some graduate education.
First of all i don't know why your looking at a polls that only poll white people. Lets stick with your white people for a second. Only 25% of white people hold a college degree. The percentage of asians that hold a college degree is around 50% and the percentage for African Americans is around 11%. Around 18% of the total population graduated from college. What this means is that your argument of 18% of political affiliation IQ is only 18% of the importance and the truth of the argument. So the 18% with college degrees vote for liberal around 5-10% more than conservative. 5-10% of 18% is around 1.5%. If everyone in the category of highschool or some college was split 50/50 with party affiliation that you could say liberals would win this argument. They don't win the argument because you cannot say that a trend in only 18% of the population defines the entire population. You don't understand the average because you don't undersatnd the amount of people that fall into every category of education. For example the number for little highschool or just highschool was much higher for Obama than it was for McCain. Me saying that liberals are dumber just because of that one category is like you saying their smarter because of one category.
I was under the impression that "IQ" and formal education were two distinct and seperate things. Example, I know a guy who never attended college that is very intelligent and a self made millionaire. I also know a guy who inherited a fortune spent years getting his Ph.D. and still doesn't have the sense to come in out of the rain. Incidentally the former is a conservative and the latter a liberal.
