Shorting French/European Banks

Discussion in 'Trading' started by raliegh-st.clai, Aug 11, 2011.

  1. Anyone have a relatively easy way to short French or other European Banks, like say BNP Paribas, Societe Generale...

In a perfect world, I would buy some puts on their ADR's, but it doesn't seem like this is possible.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

France, Italy, Belgium and Spain just banned short sales. So unless you want to create some sort of synthetic, you can't do it (for at least 15 days).

  4. Europe is just one disaster after another, one bad decision followed with another bad decision to try and rectify the first bad decision. shaking my head...

  5. Nope, the idiots are the mutual fund managers selling their shares on baseless "ANALytics". This is not 2008. We are not in a liquidity "trap" and this is not a phucking "bank crisis".

I can only repeat what JP Morgan´s Jamie Dimon is repeating over and over again: THIS IS NOT 2008!

  6. PLease indicate when you are selling your non existent shares, so I can buy them....
