Short Stock vs Selling other instrument

  1. Come on guys...you enter a trade, doesn't really make any difference whether you short first or buy first. The important thing is collecting short stock interest so you can engage in working hedging strategies...that's all there really is to it. And, yes, you need a big short stock availability (we're extremely happy with Goldman's ability to short nearly everything).

    Happy Prez Day weekend!!

Hi - Where can I find the most current, most accurate and FREE information (or at least very inexpensive) on the short interest in NYSE listed stocks?

    Thanks

  3. If everyone and their mom is now trying to learn how to short stock, does that mean we'll now see the market rise back up?

  4. You know, the whole "short interest" thing has become pretty much useless as it relates to direction, for the simple reason that we have so many derivatives offsetting shorts, and so many hedged pairs and index arbs going on to collect interest on the short stock sales.

That being said, I couldn't find a good soure either, sorry.
